Posts from How many factions are there?
In your opinion, what is the optimal number of races in Heroes 5?
In general, "Heroes of Might and Magic V" will have eight races, and that's it. So, we'll have to accept it.

Or what about this orc-themed expansion? Is this really the end? Is it the last one?
I would really like to see the Swamp and the Elemental Castle.
Because what kind of heroes game is it without a Swamp? In Heroes 3, this castle was a bit weak, but I liked it.
Besides, there are unused units: gnolls, lizards, dragonflies, basilisks, gorgons, and we could come up with Tier 6 and Tier 7 units – the developers at Nival Interactive certainly have enough imagination.
And the Conflux would also fit perfectly into the game.
Last one. Absolutely the last one. But all fans are hoping for Heroes VI.
And why was the swamp considered flawed? The castle is just a castle... Or did I miss something?
We certainly won't see a swamp with a Conflux in the 5th part (I mean the Nival swamp), but in the 6th, races will likely be added with each expansion, and there's a chance we'll see them.

No, the heroes can't always remain the same, the city composition doesn't change, the races are always the same... It's boring and monotonous. You could play Heroes V forever. And completely repeating the existing fantasy world isn't quite right; you need to add something of your own to make it interesting to play. And reptiles with their swamp aren't that rare; take TES IV: Oblivion, for example. They exist there as a matter of course.
You don't need to nitpick words. It's not the game as a whole that gets boring, but the new factions. Or, to put it more clearly... they become tiresome. Like the current humans, elves, etc.
I'm not nitpicking words; if you expressed yourself incorrectly, that doesn't mean I'm nitpicking your words. I just didn't know what you meant.

But why was the Swamp so weak? It was just a Castle... Or am I missing something?
Honestly, it was. I remember it well; no one wanted to risk playing as it against Dungeon or Necropolis, and even... well, against anyone.
It has no decent magic, only one decent ranged unit (Blinding), the Hydra is slow, you can't rely on Gorgons and Wyverns, and the Castle requires a lot of wood... It's especially hard to capture Castles. The two flying units (Snakes and Wyverns) fly over the wall, where a skilled opponent shreds them, and then shoots the remaining part from behind the wall – it was incredibly annoying. The Hydra never lived up to its potential. Don't even mention the "Teleport" spell...
In general, it's right that Hydras shouldn't be Tier 7 units. And Wyverns, Wyverns were given to the Orcs. And Paokai was clearly copied from the Rukh birds!
In short, it's depressing; I want a normal, playable, and interesting Swamp... waiting for Heroes 6, and another 4 years... I don't want to. I hope the developers will change their minds. Maybe they'll make a new expansion and start a new storyline...

Is this reliable information? Or just rumors or your guess??? I'm very interested.

Major Whirlwind
There are currently 8 factions, but people are still not satisfied because there are no factions from the 3rd game that are familiar and dearly loved by fans – these are the Swamp and the Conflux, and before the release of the Orcs, there were so many debates about their absence! Everyone referred to the 3rd game, saying that throughout all the installments of Heroes, Barbarians/Orcs were present, but they are not in the 5th game! After the release of the Swamp and the Conflux, new topics will begin, because people always want "MORE", but in general, everyone will calm down, and only completely incredible factions will start to be invented...
You're right about the unbelievable races. Introducing science fiction into a fantasy world isn't cool, in my opinion.

Are you seriously saying all this? If so, you're wrong. You can discuss this with players who are stronger than me, but doesn't the fact that they have excellent weapons against Tier 7 units (Gorgons) and Wyverns that are built on the third turn make you think?

but never mind. let's not waste words on Hydras and Fortress. Fortress had the best defense (both for the castle and its creatures), a two-cell moat, and a cool style. I never thought about why in Heroes of Might and Magic III, expert attack gives +30%, but defense only +15%. Here's the answer: because +30% defense would be completely overpowered. Defense was the main skill of the Fortress, and that's why they were so cool. High defense = minimal losses. Yes, there was a problem with archers; there was only one type, and they were terrible. But there are many other, equally excellent units. We've already talked about Wyverns and Gorgons: annoying flies that fly all over the screen, inflicting weakness, and are generally quite good; excellent paralyzing Basilisks; and, of course, the uber Hydra. Try playing on impossible difficulty on a small map against several allied computer opponents. You'll appreciate it right away. It wipes out entire armies.
that's what I'm talking about. Well, that's obvious, it's off-topic.
regarding the topic - the last option, but, of course, only if everything is done well, without any "quick and dirty" solutions.

And I was looking and thinking that the Necropolis campaign looks very similar to Messiah!
))))))
...
Yes, I know, of course, I meant that the models were taken not from Orcs, but from Messiah. Messiah is a different game. Not even from the same series. Although it's in the same universe. It's an action game. That's the point of my post;)
And isn't there more meaning in "borrowing a unit from a previous game in the series"? oO
by the way, the Paokaai weren't taken from any of the first three games or any other source; that annoying little dragon was blatantly copied from Dark Messiah.
But never mind. Let's not waste words on Hydras and the Fortress. The Fortress had the best defense (both for the castle itself and for its creatures), a moat of 2 squares, and a cool style. It's strange that ONLY the Paokaai were transferred from Dark Messiah to Heroes 5... at least externally (as far as I know)...
