I also couldn't beat the refrigerator in Brothers in Arms for a long time. My dad and I gave up, but my mom would occasionally try to open it, and one day, she finally succeeded. And our first snag occurred even at the very first level, at the gate. In the end, it seems that my classmate showed us how to get past it.

I remember playing this game, but I don't remember any of the puzzles in it.

Which Petka are you talking about? And I didn't play pilots back then; I only read about it in a magazine. Later, I played Gorky-18. That's about it, as far as Russian games go. Although, I vaguely remember something about Petka and Chapaev, I think I heard about it in passing.

I didn't have a copy of "Pete" on disk. A friend of mine did, but that was later, in 8th or 9th grade, and by then the flaws of the genre were much more obvious, so I didn't ask to borrow his disk.

I had the disc, but my dad wasn't particularly interested in it, so neither was I. I only remember the cover with screaming faces, and among them, a pin-up girl with a machine gun (I won't lie, that kind of design also put me off a bit). I suppose the game might have been a horror game, but I never got to try it out.

I had a disk with a similar cover because my father found rave reviews for the game in a gaming magazine. However, he didn't finish playing it. And at 6-7 years old, I found the crude and vulgar jokes amusing. In the future, around 2006-2007, I even played other parts of the series. But I couldn't get past the 5th installment; it all looked too garish. And the vulgarity combined with the visualization of Soviet anecdotes didn't seem so funny anymore.

I remembered that my father also had a disk with the game "GEG: Wild Adventure." No one could play this awful thing for more than 5 minutes. My mother once thought about playing it because she likes quest games, but in the end, it ended up in the same trash can as "Leo the Cat's Cottage." The latter wasn't as awful, but the level of difficulty compared to games like "Pilots" and "Petya" was so obscure that everyone who tried to play it dropped it. Around the age of 13, I wanted to try playing it out of nostalgia, but it refused to work on XP, and I didn't care anymore.

As a child, "Sesame Street" seemed like a Russian show, but later it became clear that it wasn't. And recently, after reading Wikipedia, I learned that it was an incredibly well-crafted and deliberate illusion: the creators of this show put so much effort into localizing it for different markets that they actually filmed scenes with local children and unique puppets (Zeliboba was only in Russia, for example).

By the way, I replayed Gothic 17 in 2016, and I really enjoyed it; the setting and atmosphere are great. It's just a shame that it's short.

I'm currently dreaming about finding lots of delicious food in the new year. For example, a truckload of pilaf. My dad used to make amazing pilaf when I was a kid, and no one else can make it like that. Even though I hated him, I still ate the pilaf. I tried to calculate how much I've eaten in my short life, and I think I haven't eaten enough. And I might have to feed a family someday. Or find a cheese the size of a nine-story building, or a train full of pizza.
