Why go through all this trouble? A long time ago, about 10 years ago, I tried to make this map playable. I spent a month digging through the scripts, editing, changing things, removing some quests, some heroes, some castles, but... it didn't work. The map is overloaded with scripts and objects, which is why it crashes and doesn't save. And that's a shame. This is just my personal opinion.
Well, I can't argue with that. But this map caught my attention a long time ago, maybe 10 years or even more, so it was like an unfinished task for me. Maybe there are other people like me, so I described my experience. Maybe later, someone will fix the scripts and/or optimize the map in terms of content.

For 10 years, I've been trying to figure out what affects the stability of huge and overloaded maps for this game. Through trial and error, I figured out one thing. It's the game build version (from Nival, Buku, or EWA). The most important thing is to have a clean, new profile when you decide to play incredibly complex scenarios and to choose the right build (because one incredibly complex scenario might work on one build but crash on another). Moreover, having your own mods (not global ones, but cosmetic ones) almost doesn't affect the game's behavior (many believe that the solution is to play without mods, but this is not always the case and has little impact on the result). And the hardware doesn't affect it at all (of course, if you don't have a Pentium 4)... I've upgraded my computer three times and haven't noticed any connection to the hardware. So, look for the right version of the game (on which the scenario "will work"). You can throw tomatoes at me , but my facts are strongly tied to practice (it's not just one old woman saying it, and I don't listen to "experts" with their "install a patch to fix memory" ). And I also found out through trial and error... the Buku build handles such huge maps best (but you can always try another one). And don't forget about the author's skills when creating the scenario/map (some maps can only be fixed by a miracle).

I've been playing the licensed version from Buka for 18 years, and now the disc drive has stopped recognizing the disc... That's a bummer. The HOMM5 NoCD patch doesn't help. It's a problem. And yes, the hardware is old. No matter how many upgrades I do, the result in Heroes remains the same.
