Greetings! So, here is the final map (hopefully not the last one) from this author's series. As before, I want to share my impressions... As mentioned earlier, this is a continuation of the Empire of the Unicorn campaign; roughly speaking, it takes place after the 4th mission of the campaign. Let me briefly explain the plot. In the eyes of the empire's capital, Varens is a rebel and the killer of Dominic, although rumors say it was the work of demons, but in the Claw they deny such a possibility... The action continues from where we and the witch (Cassandra) destroy the Book of Changes, but it's not that simple: the power stored within it has been released, and the witch and I must destroy it....

Now, in a few words about the scenario itself: I liked it more than the campaign finale. Specifically, there is some kind of dynamics here that puts you on edge from the start; plus, for most of the map, you aren't allowed to relax. Let's take it all in order....

At the start, we are met by Viktor, who says Varens is a traitor and so on, and now you'll get what's coming to you...

A small bonus—seems like a trifle, but it's nice since the guy's army is stronger. Oh well, unfortunately, I didn't save the replay of the fight with Viktor.... (no matter, from the start I thought it would probably be better to play through machines; specifically, I aimed for this build: machines via firearms...

In the starting zone, I try to clear everything as much as possible because there is a fairly strong stack of humans blocking the way forward. Therefore, I cleared everything and only then went after the human stack.

Varens vs Human stack

For the main objectives, we need to find the prophet and talk to him so that he can help us search for the power of the Book of Changes...

After talking with him, they say a tear must be found, and Cassandra sweetly remembers that she can show all their locations—though we need to go to the hut first. We're like, okay, we'll do it..

Next, we come across the first human Castle, guarded by Miv, and we're like "yay, a town," it must be captured (I think there are 4 of them here).

Varens vs Miv

Since the start is quite difficult, it was literally such that I was almost wiped out when Dugal came to visit....

Varens vs Dugal on the edge

vs Dugal 2

What was annoying were the strange daily moves of small demon stacks, which weren't just stressful but sometimes infuriating, and the frequent raids by those guys. I later found out that they respawn the next day after being killed near the castle...

As we move and collect obelisks, we are told that the full map will be given only when you collect them all. Cleverly designed—only once you've uncovered the whole map do they let you actually see it. While moving across the map, an additional quest popped up whose logic I didn't understand at all. Like, demonic scouts are stealing shards from us, and they show us exactly who stole them, but I happened to be on their path and caught her. Did anyone else have a situation where you had to run around searching? (just curious)

As the scenario progresses, we are gradually pressured, sometimes heavily, and we slowly pick off these small ATTACKERS; Cassandra can even start picking them apart, no matter how much I pumped her up. Fortunately, there was a ring in the first castle, and I got lucky with a Lucky Wizard, who did some pretty good "poof poof" while I had Trappers (which I upgraded to Fortune), then I took Roosters; nothing special, but cool..

Then, according to the lore, we are told that we need to find and capture the dwarf city, as the power of the Book of Changes is where we once found it.

Before going there, I had a goal in my head to wipe out those annoying humans. In the end, when only one castle was left, unfortunately Cassandra's army was too small, and she just stood there clearing the heroes that respawned every day until "Daddy" Varens arrived and took the last castle.

After all castles were captured, I decided to go "re-mentor" the ГГ because leveling up at this stage is no longer relevant in my opinion... so I took Mentorship and pumped Cassandra's SP—a useless task, but it warms the soul anyway))

This is the main build before mentor; also, looking at this castle where a serious guy is, I think it's definitely worth re-specing...

After mentoring, Varens turned out like this: in the inventory was a set for empathy + a half-set of Sar-Issa (armor, ring), and a couple of dragon items...

And I had to fight this guy (though the screenshot doesn't show the whole army; I bought some more angels, around 45-50 in total, which was enough to win a battle almost down to zero).

Varens vs Erling

After defeating this guy, we are told that's not where we need to look, but in the lands of the lake elves (the path near the first castle; if you follow the signpost, it's shown right there). On top of all this, a demon is chasing us who is "No Chance"—and out of curiosity, if you try to engage him, there will be no one left; he has way too much initiative, and even on darkness we don't have time to cast on him. No choice but to run...

Well, with a one-day margin, we calmly reach the required spot, and here we are warned that the passage is guarded by the elf Tirael. We are given a choice: either Varens or Cassandra. On one hand, it's cool, but on the other, what use is Cassandra without her own army? In the end, she was one level lower than the ГГ with a good magic stat and the Sar-Issa set; I actually tried a couple of times, but got crushed. If only I had protection—I had an image and log—but at that point, you can't go back to the mentor, and the final script won't trigger unless we approach with two heroes...

And Tirael himself is a pretty serious guy, I tell you)

But with Varens, there were more or less no problems with him)

Varens vs Tirael

In the end, we reach the required place, but Cassandra did not share the views on destroying the power of the book; on the contrary, she was susceptible to the power, under the pretext that since Railag is gone, she will rule, and so on. But Varens wasn't born yesterday and outsmarted her; in the end, we send her far away.

Let's summarize: I enjoyed the scenario; in my opinion, it should have been the 5th mission of the campaign, and what was in the fifth mission should have been a separate scenario... Well, the story seems to be over, but as for me, it could probably be continued—who knows, maybe the author will return to maps. Although looking at people's answers, I understand that no, but who knows.... On this cheerful note, I'll go look for campaigns or scenarios for other races because I'm tired of humans)

Good day!

Thank you for your hard work and for creating this story!

I completed the map in 125 days with a hero, without putting in too much effort. In the first battle, I had to adjust the hero's stats a bit to match the desired build, but after that, there were no difficulties.

All castles were captured without significant losses. I also had good luck with the cockroaches; I was able to intercept them without using logistics. There were some losses against the gnome, but I didn't try too hard. The elf was also strong, but he was defeated without any problems.

Thank you again to the author for the work!

I completed this scenario on Hero difficulty.
WalkthroughIn the starting battle with Vittorio, I found a setup where the enemy archers and ballista attack the landlords, which helped reduce losses in other units. On the seventh day, I easily captured the city and in the field, I killed Miv (losses: 4 archers and 6 griffins), and later hired her. At the end of the third week, Dugald arrived, but he didn't attack the castle; he ran around and disappeared somewhere. Later, Bertrand arrived, and I specifically distracted him with Miv, while hiding Cassandra in the Sanctuary. During this time, I developed up to Fallen Angels. Vance, with only angels, cleared the garrison without losses and killed Dugald three times in a row (he revives every day). Vance's skills: Luck, Defense, Light, Darkness, Logistics. After some time, Bertrand arrived with a large army (110 paladins, a lot of crossbowmen...), he didn't want to attack the castle, but I left only archers, adepts, and angels with Vance in the city, and transferred the rest of the army to Cassandra. Now Bertrand attacked the castle. I divided the adepts into 5 units, thought a lot, and reloaded, but won the battle (losses: 109 archers, 25 adepts). Vance went on the offensive and defeated all the enemy heroes without problems; the turquoise player was defeated on the 123rd day. After that, I ran around the map and completed quests. Out of ten obelisks, I couldn't find two for a long time, but I eventually found them. Next, I need to defeat the neutral Erling in the castle; he has Berserk, Subjugation, Celestial Shield, and Anti-Magic. I removed Logistics and Luck from the Mentor and took Spellcasting, Education, Seals of Light and Darkness. I won this battle with one unit of angels without losses. Erling used Berserk on the angels, and I teleported them back to their starting position each time so they wouldn't fly away The main thing is to wait until he spends all his mana, and then everything is easy. Now, Vance and Cassandra need to escape from the demon. It's important to visit the city along the way, where there is a stable. After that, I need to defeat the ranger Tariel with a huge army. Vance won the battle with one unit of angels without losses quite easily, as in response to Darkness, Tariel uses mass dispel, which quickly drains his mana. The scenario was completed in 197 days.

Good scenario, everything is well thought out, beautiful cutscenes, the plot is interesting, but I probably didn't understand everything, as I haven't played "Empire of the Unicorn." I still didn't figure out how Cassandra's clairvoyance works (it turned out to be silly; I only noticed this quest in the sixth month ). Strategically, this map is quite simple and clear, in my opinion, although I had to think about tactics in some battles. I was satisfied with the walkthrough.
Thank you very much for the map!

I liked the map. In my humble opinion, this is one of the author's best works. Interesting quests, good map visuals, and a curious landscape. Of course, the enemy placements seemed too simple to me, especially considering the recommended mod for renegades, but it was still enjoyable to play. The Dwarf, just like in the map "Ambassador," seemed tedious to me, but I really liked the final boss. Thank you for the interesting map! My rating is 7.5/10.
