Yes, I confess – I’m a perfectionist).
I didn’t try to “solve the puzzle”; I just reloaded and skipped that mage altogether.
I just finished this map, and as I understand it, the mage (because I didn’t do anything) gave the computer 2,000 water elementals against me, which wasn’t pleasant, but oh well.

I have mixed feelings after completing the map.
First, I want to note the many videos, text, and overall narrative; I believe the author put a lot of time, effort, and moral strength into it, and for that – RESPECT!
Furthermore, regarding the qualities mentioned above – I personally didn’t like it; there are many questionable or even absurd words that make you realize you’re not in a fantastical fictional world,
but I repeat, the author is great because I’m not even close to being able to make such a map, so my opinion isn’t very important in this matter; I’m just sharing my thoughts.
I also read comments that the story is a bit drawn out – I felt that too, but it’s even good in some ways (and there’s no way to skip a line in the video when you’ve already read it twice and are waiting for the next one).
There were no problems with the difficulty of the game because there are two mentors (a separate thank you for this; mentoring for Necromancer is great).
It wasn’t difficult to unlock dark elementals.
I replayed the final battle once because I didn’t know that I needed to fight the High Druid with no losses or minimal losses.
Regarding the spiders – the unit is good at the beginning, but I almost didn’t use it later; in the final, they just crumbled (about 170 of them) from water elementals, plus the computer actively used their poison ability (how can poison harm undead, there’s simply nowhere for it to spread???) – this is an unpleasant moment, but it’s a minor detail for the finale.
I was also misled by the description, which states that the Necromancer’s amulet is needed for the maximum spider increase; I used it once for the increase, and I only learned here on the forum that the increase can be boosted even more, so there were fewer spiders in the finale than there could have been.
In conclusion – the map is good; thank you to the author for the work!
P.S. The mage’s puzzle is a fly in the ointment; because of it, I almost abandoned the map near the finish line.

By the way, I’m going to play
Hill of the Dead, the author’s second map.
