I remember Remix going through this scenario on his channel and solving this problem.

But he didn't encounter this issue.
Player100, but here a reasonable question arises - why didn't he have a problem, but you did?
I watched his walkthrough - he played on the original 3.1 version, and only used interface mods. Also, he usually leaves only one current map in the maps folder, which is the one he's playing. Perhaps that's the reason.

Oh, and when I replied, I went through all the possible options again to ensure the experiment was clean. I didn't try it on a new profile. I made sure there were no saves or maps. An old save (before the battle) after the battle gives the same result. If this is some kind of external influence, then theoretically, everything should have been fixed, like, for example, in the situation "why do my Knights look like Demons and attack like Dragons," or some crashes and freezes (usually, simply deleting the map/mod helps, but sometimes the information is stuck somewhere, maybe in deleted saves, and it's fixed by creating a new profile). Nothing helps here.
You probably have version 3.0 of the game, and not 3.1. You need to install a patch; then all map functions will work correctly.
I hadn't thought about that because it wasn't mentioned in the menu, but I'll try installing it. If it works, I'll be grateful.

If you know how to use the console, launch the map and type @print(TalkBoxForPlayers) in the console, and tell me what will be displayed.
Only the localization file was installed; I tried playing without it on a clean game installation, but the dialogues still didn't work. The ghost spawns and simply becomes an allied hero, running around that small piece of land, and then his lieutenant kills him. After this, I came here to write about it. The menu doesn't open at all. I reached the city, and nothing is interactive there except for the artifact shop. These modded units with special abilities work, but the dialogues don't.

I had something similar happen...and also version 3.1...installing another Heroes repack, version 3.1, helped. Somehow, it didn't work on that version of Heroes – neither the dialogue with the Ghost nor the diary worked – but there were no problems on the other one, even though both versions are 3.1
