The captain's abrupt order to change course caught us off guard in the middle of the night. No one was chasing us, but the captain was clearly worried about something. We sailed to the port of Tortuga, where, upon arrival, we received an even stranger order – to recruit as many people as possible, taking in anyone who wanted to join. And so we did!
No one had any illusions about the quality of the recruits with this approach, but even I didn't expect to see such a motley crew on board. There was a bit of everything: outright scoundrels and villains, femme fatales, former officials, and white-collar workers. There was even a cunning parrot, who, judging by its gaze, was clearly plotting something. Among the recruits, there was even one person who claimed to be from another planet. Upon hearing this, another recruit began to shout hysterically, "Give me back my goat!" Some went even further and tried to bring a huge live lizard onto the ship (I don't know where they dug it up), but, coming to their senses, they abandoned this foolish idea. What awaits us with such a crew is anyone's guess. I hope the captain knows what he's doing...

The night started quite ordinarily, if not for the fistfight that half the crew managed to get involved in. When we finally managed to separate everyone, most of the sailors couldn't explain who was to blame for the brawl or which side they were fighting for. Nevertheless, Ple-Sen was deemed responsible, for which he was sent to sit alone in the crow's nest.
Nebo was bothered by the broken handrail on the starboard side. After a few swigs of rum, he decided that night was the perfect time for repairs. The overly confident handyman almost fell overboard, but was grabbed by the collar at the very last moment.
Despite her tough demeanor, Neiko quickly grew tired of the lustful gazes and harassment from the other sailors. She would have loved to have some time alone with her own thoughts, but that's impossible on a ship. Still, it was better than dealing with a crowd of religious fanatics.
Heroist ran around the deck with a worried expression, patting his tattered pockets. His gaze suddenly fixed on a bag of salt. Without explaining anything, he slit open the bag and began sprinkling salt around himself. The act of reckless waste of supplies was quickly cut short by a sharp rap on the back of the head from the quartermaster.
While we were trying to figure out what had gotten into Heroist, the boatswain cried out, "Man overboard!" Everyone rushed to the starboard side, where they spotted a lifeboat bobbing on the waves with the lifeless body of Wrathful Lizard on board. He didn't appear to have any serious injuries. Only a small red dot was visible on his forehead. None of us could figure out what Wrathful Lizard was doing in the boat, or who could have killed him. Some of the newcomers theorized that the captain wanted to get rid of a rival so despicably, but I say it's all bull. But one thing is for sure - with Wrathful Lizard, we lost a first-rate assassin of the marshes.
As we were dealing with Wrathful Lizard's body, nobody noticed how the ship had drifted into a thick cloud of fog. Only later did we realize we had run too close to the Misty Rocks, and the ship only avoided being wrecked against them by sheer luck. The captain was beside himself with rage and ordered the helmsman Morning to be lashed ten times. But the punishment was never carried out, because no one was at the wheel - Morning vanished without a trace. Two sailors desperately scrambled to look for him, but it was all futile. Hanging on the wheel was only a small piece of fabric with a tag still attached, on which it read "Made by Striker's dangerous little baby from Gilead".
