1. Lighthouse -- 8.
Beautiful. The toy-like design, combined with a clear reference to something historically existing, reminded me of the building designs in "Cossacks." And the cries of seagulls, heard while looking at the picture, seem to be from that game.
2. Attack on kitten -- 8.
Beautiful. This is more like some Total War game, albeit with mods. The downside is that the design of the "kotzilla" doesn't quite reach the overall level of the picture in my opinion; the realistic face with the cartoonish body looks dissonant.
3. Fortress -- 10.
Beautiful. In terms of visual design, it is one of the best cities in the third game, second only to Rampart in my opinion. And about the music from there (which is now playing in my head), Paul Romero said that he was inspired by Russian classics; it is also good.
I want to share an arrangement in this regard:
4. Bookworm -- 6.
Not bad. I like the large number of diverse objects, but the perspective is broken, which is a minus. It didn't affect the score, but it would be good to crop the white lines in Photoshop; they are clearly distracting.
5. Goat Rider -- This was submitted by me.
Not having access to a computer with a lot of beautiful and mostly fantastic landscapes, I started searching the internet on my phone a couple of hours before the contest deadline. Given the specific wording of the contest, I wanted to use it somehow by submitting not just a landscape, but something with action or a central character (even if it's not a person).
One of the options was some kind of battle scene (most likely, a naval one). I also had in mind something fantastic (but not at the level that I have on my computer; I couldn't find anything suitable right away).
And then I came across this Goat Rider... Remember Gorky's poem? This is it, only the main character is a goat. He is so majestic above this cliff that I was stunned, and I no longer wanted to look for any fantasy.
> Above the gray wall of the cliff, the wind rustles the pine trees. Between the pines and the snow, the Goat Rider proudly soars, like a brown lightning bolt.
He is simply the king of these mountains, rocks, and forests. A mighty Goat with a capital "G." The charisma of this animal was so overwhelming that I had no more doubts. I hope that some of you liked it too (even if the picture is not exactly outstanding in other respects).
6. Before the storm -- 10.
Beautiful. The weather moment is very well chosen, when the sun is still shining, but the wind is already bringing in dark, powerful clouds. This rare natural scene is both frightening and awe-inspiring at the same time. And that lonely-looking little house, ready to face the elements in a few seconds... It's perfect.
7. Cemetery raven -- 6.
Compared to the other contestants, I can't say that it's great; it's too minimalist... But it also sparks the imagination. This is either a raven or a crow, in general, a corvid, sadly sitting on a Christian grave... As if a lost soul. It's both sad and with a touch of romance.
8. Gates -- 9.
A beautiful halo, as if leading to another world. The witness of this picture is clearly no less amazed than we are. She will undoubtedly go forward to meet these clouds, fog, and the lonely tree on the other side – but will she find happiness? Or will this Yggdrasil disappoint her expectations? I would like to believe that it will not.
9. Shoes -- 4.
Haha, I saw the same shoes (only made of glass) in a drawing tutorial. Well... Yes, it formally corresponds, but it's not quite right. In a contest of clothing items, if there were one, it would be good, although with a nuance...
10. Russian field -- 6.
I would say that this is a version of 6, but worse. The weather moment is slightly less powerful, and there is a lack of a building... In the distance, of course, you can see a church, but it's too small; you can't see anything.
Sorry for the delay with the votes, and thank you all; it was definitely one of the best contests!
But that would be a waste. I hope that next year there will be categories for landscapes, and also for interiors, objects, battles, and maybe even storylines. It's definitely better than judging people.
