05.03.297 — tournament in honor of the birthday of Deus Mariarnelia
VIII
Opponent: My Lord Zedil Mox, Knight of Unbridled Violence from Lesszen, servant of Lord Carnea Caicunia Iretiret, adherent of the Radiance of Velhmetra.
Sticking to my usual strategy, I kept my distance from Zedil until victory, shooting him with my bow along the way. This tactic deprived the Knight of Unbridled Violence and his arachnid of any chance.
Note: two consecutive failures reminded me how dangerous it is to let an opponent get within arm's reach. It's a pity that Zephyr's capabilities and the terrain features don't always work in both our favors.
Sticking to my usual strategy, I kept my distance from Zedil until victory, peppering him with arrows from my bow. This tactic left the Knight of Unbridled Violence and his arachnid with no chance.
Milady Chonchonlia Quintea V "Milord" Galaharadron
The pegasus's high speed and a hail of arrows once again did their dirty work.
Double standards — they're double in Tezoth too...
Ничто не возникает из ничего и ничто не пропадает бесследно. Если где-то чего-то убудет, то в другом месте добавится. (Закон сохранения).
"Your Grace," Vargas sidles up to Deus. "I'm looking at our fighters and thinking: do they have what it takes to make their weapons sing? For instance, milord von Himmel — he's very good at shooting, I myself barely managed to dodge his attacks, yet the quartermaster issued him a stock bow! As a result, he couldn't snatch victory from milady Stefania, for whom my respect is beyond all praise. Here, of course, skill won out, but it also feels that equipment could have played a role to some small extent. Or, for example, milord Yin — he always helps us, is exquisitely gallant, I love him more than anyone. But there's something about it, as if he's sometimes lacking a bit of impact — specifically in a confrontation situation. Exclusively in comparison with other colleagues — who have artifact upon artifact — and they don't hesitate to use them for victory," he glances at scout Orvald changing his barding, then at the crowd of bristling Albusians. "Just a thought, nothing more. I am guilty of my own observant nature."
"Victory should not be stained by a bloody veil of impatience, darkening the eyelids and tarnishing honor." — In modern youth slang, this might mean something like "seriously? couldn't find a better time to ask this than right before the start of the regional team battle that I myself initiated? dude... well, that's mega-disrespect," but fortunately or unfortunately, Deus did not possess such vocabulary. "A better time than the present will come for this."
Kaleido and Alaria (apparently, before setting off to fight) present a canvas to Deus — it is clear that the knight carried it herself, while the lord merely walked alongside. Having removed the cloth from the gift, Mariarnelia's eyes beheld an offering of the following content:
"The work of Stefano Vignetto, a wandering artist, painted in the year 281. I have heard much of Your Grace's love for the visual arts, and so I decided that this painting would make better company for you than for a person as far from art as myself."
"Not bad. Whose likeness do I observe on this canvas?"
"This man was named Erebos; he was a foreigner who accompanied me on an expedition to Ikazkan. He was a brilliant scholar with extraordinary views on life."
"Was?"
"You have understood correctly, Your Grace."
"A pity, but I am pleased with the offering."
"I am glad to hear that." — Contrary to his words, the lord's voice was rather dry and indifferent.
- Your Grace, - Vargas sidles up to Deus. - I'm looking at our fighters and thinking: do they have what it takes to make their weapons sing? For instance, milord von Himmel - he's very good at shooting, I myself barely managed to dodge his attacks, yet the quartermaster issued him a stock bow! As a result, he couldn't snatch victory from milady Stefania, for whom my respect is beyond all praise. Here, of course, skill prevailed, but it also feels like equipment could have played a role to some small extent. Or, for example, milord Yin - always helps us, is amazingly gallant, I love him more than anyone. But there's something about it, as if he's lacking a bit of impact sometimes - specifically in confrontation situations. Exclusively in comparison with other colleagues - who have artifact upon artifact - and they don't hesitate to use them for victory, - he looks at scout Orvald changing his barding, then at the crowd of bristling Albusites. - Just a thought, nothing more. I am guilty of my own observant nature.
- The thirst for victory should not stain the eyelids with a bloody veil of impatience and darken one's honor. - In modern youth slang, this could mean something like "seriously? couldn't find a better time to ask this right before the regional team battle that I myself started? dude... this is mega-disrespect", but unfortunately or fortunately, Deus did not possess such vocabulary. - A better time than now for this will come.
[Deus gains +10 prestige, in the eyes of the players]
