I suggest that everyone who wants to share their experience write about which race they started playing with and how they began to conquer the world of Heroes 4. (I didn't see a similar topic). Here is my story: It was back in 2003. I woke up in a cold sweat one morning. I had a terrible dream. There was no one at home. A blizzard was raging outside (snow with strong wind). I tried to fall asleep for a long time, but couldn't. Then the phone rang. I picked up the receiver, and... it was my friend. He invited me to his place. He had a cool game and decided to show it to me (at that time, I didn't have a computer). I went to his place and heard the music of the game. The game was Warlords. I liked the music. We sat down to play. He had some experience with the game, and I was seeing it for the first time. And he said: "Choose a race" and named them to me. My choice was Chaos. He kept telling me what to do, where to go, and why. And then I caught on. But it was already late, and the day had passed. I went home, thinking about this game. The next morning, the phone rang again, and within 10 minutes, I was at my friend's place. Again, the question: "Choose a race." This time, I said Death. This continued for several days. First, a phone call, then the question: "Choose a race." (At that time, I was still in school, and it was autumn break, although it was full-fledged winter outside. P.S. I live above the Arctic Circle). And then I bought a computer. I immediately installed Warlords and started playing. I played as Death because the vampires impressed me with their power. Then I played as Chaos again - I also liked the black dragons, but they were hard to accumulate. Then I played as Nature, Might, and Order. Two years passed, and I decided to play as Life. At first, it was difficult because I was playing as Life for the first time. I got hooked on playing as them, and I played as Life for more than a month. Then I started playing randomly, just playing and learning. Then I delved into the editor, and at first glance, it seemed difficult to create a map. But time passed, and I was messing around in the editor, trying to create a map. Then I somehow installed Armageddon's Blade, and there were new creatures. I was glad, and the Dragon King impressed me as the strongest creature. But the music in Armageddon's Blade was bad. But as a true experimenter, I installed Heroes 4 separately, then Warlords, and copied the Music file from Warlords to Armageddon's Blade, and I was happy to hear the old music in the new game. Then, somehow, I installed Clash of Heroes (I don't understand how, and I still can't figure it out), although, in my opinion, only the picture in the main menu changed. After some experiments, I sat down to command the army of Death again. Then I came across a map with quite difficult scripts. I opened this map through the editor and learned to create scripts. Currently, I rarely play Heroes 4 (the last one was a map from the ninth stage). I create maps and hope that when players play my map, they will appreciate it. I first played Heroes 3 around 2003-2004. Then, when my brother and I installed a new Windows, I installed Heroes 4. I played it for a while, but then I lost interest – either I missed Heroes 3, or something else. Anyway, in 2006, I visited a friend, and he was playing Heroes 4. It was an RPG map. I was so excited. I borrowed the game from him, installed it, and started playing like crazy to catch up.
I played everywhere and did everything – completed campaigns, played hotseat, and learned the editor. I started playing as Haven, and I still play as them, but I haven't forgotten about the other factions. But to this day, I still love RPG maps the most. I want to create my own XL RPG map, but I can't come up with a plot that I like. But I'm still an inexperienced player, so I'll keep learning all the intricacies of the game.

I started playing around 2003 at my cousin's place, and I chose the Haven faction, or rather, it was "randomly" chosen for me. I didn't want to leave when it was time to go, I just wanted to cry. The next day, I bought Heroes of Might and Magic IV and started learning it, but I quickly got bored, and that's how I've been playing it on and off ever since... My story is quite simple, but it's still a story.

My first faction was in the second game, and it’s hard to say which one it was… But from what I remember, it seems like it was the Warlock faction. The castles in the second game were just great… it’s a shame I can’t find the game anywhere now.

My first faction was back in 1996, in Heroes II. I think I randomly chose a Necromancer. And the map was called "Broken Alliance". In Heroes IV, I first loaded the tutorial. And there you have to play as Haven.

So, I wasn't the only one who started with Heroes II! I even remember some Broken Alliance maps!

I also started with the second game... I don't remember which faction, it was too long ago. I was still a kid back then. We played at a friend's house, three of us. (He lived on the floor below). When I got my own computer, the first thing we installed was Heroes 3: Armageddon's Blade. They brought it over and installed it right away, the whole building came to watch, some to look, some to help carry it (although there wasn't much to carry, it was a regular box). In the end, about 8 of us gathered... maybe even more, because there wasn't enough room for everyone (the maximum is 8 players). We played for a bit, but not for long, maybe one turn each, and then we went out to play. I don't remember what happened after that (but I didn't play alone, because I didn't know how to use the computer, I didn't even know how to turn it on). Anyway, later that day, or the next, we sat down to play, the three of us (me, my brother, and a neighbor... we had a lot of friends in our building). My brother chose the Elves (I think he had played them before), my neighbor took the Demons (you wouldn't believe it, he was standing with a pitchfork on a pile of burning straw... it was crazy, like the devil himself), and I chose the Barbarians. I didn't really know what I was doing, I just picked the faction with the most unfamiliar creatures (the pictures that appeared when you right-clicked were confusing, especially the first time). So, we played like that, I allied with my neighbor, and my brother played against us with the computer. I don't remember if we finished the game or not. I played Heroes 4 for the first time at a friend's house, the one who lived on the floor below, but on the other side (not the one we played Heroes 2 with). The disc was mine, and it was the English version, I think. My friend had it because it wouldn't run on my computer. It was either because my computer was too weak, or it didn't want to install, or there wasn't enough space (the hard drive was only 1.5 GB!). I don't remember exactly. I also don't remember which faction I played as the first time, but I think it was the Order. I remember running around in the desert

I first played Heroes II in 2000... I just played and attacked everyone, but the funniest thing is, I didn't understand what to do when a hero ran out of moves... Then there was a break until 2004, when I got a computer. It was taken to my parents' workplace to install software. And they asked me: "Do we have Heroes IV, should we install it for you?", I said yes. However, they spent about 3 months on the computer, and no one played it. Then my sister started playing it, and I told her, "How can you play this garbage, it's just crap," but then I sat and watched her play, and I liked it, so I started playing too... and that's how it began. The first faction I played was Necropolis, but then there were arguments that magic was a cool thing, and you can't do without it. And I asked, "Are there any non-magical factions?", and they answered, "Yes, there are, they're called Barbarians." And I won my VERY FIRST GAME against my sister!). I liked the Barbarians so much that I only play as them in Heroes IV.

I don't remember exactly what year it was, but I started playing Heroes 4 shortly after its release. At first, I didn't understand the icons, so I played randomly and got the Barbarians. But in Heroes 3, my favorites were the Elves and Faeries. So, I thought about the faction icons and chose the tree. My intuition didn't fail me – it turned out to be my favorite Elves and creatures. Of course, since then, I only play as other races in campaigns, but I still enjoy it. But otherwise – only Nature!

I started playing Heroes 4 in 2002 because I liked nature and all sorts of elves, so I chose the Sylvan faction. I played as a Druid for a long time, but later, after considering everything, I decided that it's better to play as Haven. It's the most interesting faction, especially their magic.

my first faction was Life; I chose it randomly... but I liked it. This happened about a month after the release of Heroes 4. But I actually started playing them when I was 7, and it was Heroes 3... this game immediately captivated me, and I decided to go through the Heroes series from the beginning, starting with 1 and now finishing with 5.

And my first faction in the third game, I remember it clearly – Fortress!
Simply because my father and I, as avid fans of Heroes 2, decided to see how the third part differed significantly and started the tutorial game:D:D:D:D:D:D

I'm trying to recall the moment I first tried the fourth game, but I can't even remember the year... I only have fragmented memories: two discs, the startup screen, eyes filled with curiosity... but I probably played it for a month or two before I got bored, after playing the third game, I just couldn't figure it out... and I gave up.
Years passed, and I occasionally played the third and second games, and I would sometimes remember the fourth game, but back then, there was another thing that put me off. Then, in mid-2006, I remembered the fourth game again and reinstalled it on my computer... and that's when it started! I began to enjoy the game, and I started to get the hang of it. I think I'll call this moment the starting point, so the first faction I remember playing was Haven, then I tried the others again. My preferences were established, which, by the way, are changing again now.
So, it was like this - Crusaders, Ballistas, Champions, and Angels - in short, Haven was my first faction.
