Guys, what do you mean by "doesn't work"? I have this problem: when I launch the shortcut/application, a black screen appears, and nothing else happens. It used to work, and I think it even worked on Windows XP. "Whirlwinds of War" can't be removed from the list of programs, so it won't install, even if I go to the disk through the file explorer and click setup. It just keeps offering to uninstall it. And "The Gathering Storm" crashes to a black screen without any disk detection.
It seems like your registry is corrupted. I had the same problem with Heroes 4; it somehow keeps trying to leave its traces behind. Try installing all parts of Heroes 4 one after another. At some point, you'll get an error saying it can't be installed, but instead, it will offer to uninstall it. Uninstall it, and it will disappear from the list of programs. Then, reinstall it, and everything should work. At least, that's how I dealt with the same problem.

I thought it was because of the monitor, not the operating system... It seemed like the resolution was too high – the screen was multiplying. :mad:

So, when the game was installed, the default resolution was (1024*768), and my monitor glitched... it was a nightmare. I had to change the resolution through a small strip (almost blindly).

I used to have the same problem, but I changed it through safe mode.
All games (or almost all) store information about settings either in files with the .ini extension in the same folder as the game or directly in the registry, where they can be easily modified.
However, in the 4th installment of the Heroes series, the settings are in a hexadecimal system.
