I had the same problem. In the end, I just downloaded the SoD 3.2 executable (although it doesn't seem to be a full 3.2 version), and for online games, I downloaded Platinum 4.0 – the SoD disc still works with it.

I unzipped the map and save file and put them in the correct folder, but neither the map nor the save file appears in the game.

Options:

1. The Restoration of Erathia
2. Armageddon's Blade
3. The Shadow of Death
4. Platinum (or Gold) Collection

Are you sure you put the save file in the ...\Heroes3\Games folder?
And the map in ...\Heroes3\Maps?

Please take a PrintScreen of the File Explorer (Start -> Standard -> File Explorer),
from the folder where you launch the game. And upload this image to the forum. I think they will be able to figure out your problem easily.;)

How do you launch Heroes?
Do you have a shortcut on your desktop?
If so, hover your mouse over this shortcut and click the right mouse button.
A menu will appear, and at the very bottom of this menu, there will be a line that says "Properties"; click on it with the left mouse button.
A window with the properties of this shortcut will appear.
On the second tab, there will be a field called "Start in," and next to it, the directory from which Heroes is launched will be displayed.
So, in this same directory, there should be a folder called Games; this is where you need to put the save file.
Do you understand?
