Discussion about mapmaking in Heroes V.Auto-translated
Night Nazgul, thanks again! It's a pity that it doesn't seem possible to create videos with this editor... :( Has anyone made a script that starts a battle when the player enters a specific zone? I tried to figure it out myself :smile35:, but I couldn't. If it's not too much trouble, could you write down how it looks?:smile28:
Night Nazgul imagine, I was making maps, I made one, saved it, and everything was fine! Today, I'm making a second one, and again, the map saves as 1KB! I didn't change the folder name in the path to Heroes! What the heck is going on?

I don't know, contact technical support, or somewhere else... you can contact Nival...
Who even made these editors? :smile35: They look good, but they work terribly! (I haven't looked into editor 1.4-1.5 yet).
It would be great if there was some kind of converter that could convert maps from Heroes of Might and Magic III to Heroes of Might and Magic V – my life would be half as complicated! I understand that it doesn't exist and, in principle, it can't be created, but if it did… :smile41: :smile41: :smile41: :smile41: :smile41: :smile16:
I started making a cool map and almost finished it, but I messed up the object glow (read about it in the manual) and began stuffing various shades of light everywhere, especially in the Dungeon—crystals, campfires, all sorts of buildings... And one day... the map simply wouldn't open... I still haven't figured out how to reduce the glow.
Has anyone actually understood anything in the scripts? I haven't. Has anyone figured out how to give quests in the Seer's Hut? I haven't. Although I only just installed the localization patch and haven't tried doing anything with it yet.
And truly, I want more maps with allies, because playing against each other on one computer is annoying.
Yeeeah... somewhere, on Igromania, I think there were patches that allowed removing the glow from artifacts, removing the irritating message "The hero will not go anywhere else," a patch removing the animation when entering a Castle, and so on. But for some reason they didn't install... Yeeeah...
Didn't create a new thread... I have this issue: I'm creating a map, a very simple one – 2 castles, Humans and Dungeon, each with a hero – Nicholas and the Warlord, respectively, with an army of 2k and highly upgraded (I don't know if this matters, so I'm mentioning it).
So, they fight the monsters perfectly, but as soon as they start fighting each other, the game freezes completely, and only a reset helps.

I know what the problem is. I also messed up 2 maps, but then I realized: if you create a map with a Russian name (for example, "New War"), it will weigh 1kb, but if you name it in English (New war), everything will be fine. You can also name maps 1, 2, 3, etc.

I haven't encountered this myself, but in general, you need to save the map with an English name, and in the map properties (i.e., the tab in the map editor), there is a field called "Map Name" where you can write the Russian name, and everything will be fine.

Hey everyone, can you tell me how to place teleporters? I've been sitting here looking, and I see that you can set a number for certain groups, but I don't understand what it's for.
Guys, can you tell me how to place teleports? I've been sitting here looking, and I see some groups with numbers, but I don't understand what they're for.
Teleports are grouped together (these are the numbers). One teleport transports the hero to another teleport in the same group.
Added after 19 minutes Recently, while digging around in the editor, I found the following line in the hero properties (select a hero, main properties/shared): isscenariohero and I assigned it the value false for all Dungeon heroes. The result was as follows: on all maps (including downloaded ones), some of the campaign heroes (Rai'lag, Shadia) can be hired at the beginning. The rest don't want to be starting heroes (I don't know why), but during the game, they can be hired in the tavern. The above applies to heroes of all other races as well.
P.S. I have Heroes v.3.0, but this is probably also applicable to other versions.
Does anyone know how to insert messages into a map (either local messages or messages that appear on specific days), and which version of the editor this is available in?
