I don't plan on playing the map, but just out of curiosity, is it necessary to open the first Pandora's Box with just one Gnoll?
The main enemy on the map is time, meaning you need to complete it as quickly as possible. If there's an opportunity to gain more resources than others, but it would cost you time, it's better not to do it. :)
P.S. I forgot to mention in the description that the video of the beginning of the final stage was recorded by Marlo two years ago. I've corrected that.
I'm such a loser. Only after several hours of runs with 1 gnoll did I decide to check which artifacts Tazare has. Damn spirit of despondency.
Added after 25 minutes I don't even know how, but I passed it a second time without morale. :)
That's why I couldn't do it without morale at first, and as soon as I realized that passing with morale is much easier, I immediately found a way to pass without morale. :smile35:
I wonder if I actually passed it according to the author's intent this time, or if I just improvised again? :D
I wonder, did you follow the author's intended strategy this time, or did you add your own twists again? :D
Yes and no :) The essence of the battle is to control the bottom three lizard units, but the path to this moment differs from both my version and the author's version.
Overall, you're making great progress at a rapid pace, comrade!
scars of reality, Your early moves seem similar to the Marlo variant; he also started by focusing on micro-management from the bottom. Initially, I tested this battle without Bloodlust, but then I decided to add it because it makes the battle more diverse – the boars behave differently depending on the damage they receive. With Bloodlust, they start fearing the Gnoll faster, which can be both an advantage and a disadvantage xD.
The essence of the battle boils down to keeping the bottom row of lizards in check.
You need to maneuver around the battlefield while the lizards' ammunition lasts, and then position yourself under the bottom lizard. This becomes clear immediately after determining the damage dealt by its units. I couldn't think of any other options. The main difficulty is how to execute this. Marlo_Stanfield
but the path to this moment differs from both mine,
It's an ingenious strategy; I wouldn't have come up with such a complex plan. :smile07: If my bottom lizard started moving somewhere, I would have lost my mind. I was carefully timing my movements so that I could reach it just as its ammunition runs out and it hasn't moved far. This way, it can immediately return and block the gnoll. If I also had to move around the battlefield for it to get into position, I would probably have given up. When I played with 2 gnolls, I reached the end one round later, and then the bottom lizard would move up, and the top one would move down accordingly. As a result, the top lizard would block me, but that, of course, was useless. Marlo_Stanfield
and from the author's version.
I completely disregard all the author's ideas. At some point, I even thought that the author's idea was to figure out how to remove the spirit of despondency (hello, Tazik) and complete the battle based on morale. I was even about to throw a tantrum, thinking that the author was forcing morale to be randomized. :D Marlo_Stanfield
But overall, you're making great progress, comrade!
No, that's enough for now. Out of pure curiosity, I tried this Pandora's box, but I need to take a break from Heroes for a while.

I don't know what "maneuvering" means, but this is the only way I can get the gnolls to gather in a group. Even if you move one cell higher, they start to scatter in different directions in the second round.
I completely disregard all the author's intentions. At some point, I even thought that the author's intention was to figure out how to remove the "Spirit of Despair" (hello, Tazik!) and win the battle based on morale. I was even about to throw a tantrum, thinking that the author was forcing morale to be random.
The author's intention is to survive until the lizards have used up all their ammunition and to huddle in a corner. Of course, there are several ways to do this, especially if you're trying to remove the "Spirit of Despair," which is left as a kind of decoy for additional challenges. scars of reality
No, that's enough for now. Out of pure curiosity, I tried this "Pandora," but I should probably take a break from Heroes for a while.
If you feel like it, there's another battle nearby that isn't as time-consuming. scars of reality
I don't know what "microing" means, but that's the only way I could get the gnolls to gather in a group.
"Microing" means controlling the enemy. I moved upwards and then stomped downwards; then I added "Bloodlust." In general, there are different ways to do this "microing."
Is that the same one that appears after the Swan Pond? As far as I remember, the Blue faction takes it. To claim it yourself, you’ll probably have to wait 7 days until he dies. It seems impossible to reach that treasure before him. Or is there a different sequence of actions?
I glanced at that battle with harpies and pikemen. My initial thought is that one gnoll should huddle in the upper corner and defend against one stack of pikemen, while the other runs around the remaining two stacks near those Cove areas. When the first gnoll deals with the first stack of pikemen, somehow divide the two remaining stacks between the gnolls.
If this is one of the correct strategies, I’ll try to figure out this battle. If not, I won’t even try.wenwell
To kill the hero with archers, we need three gnolls, not two (this is not a joke).
I wouldn’t be surprised if even two gnolls weren’t enough. :D But I would like to see how to defeat 5 archers with three gnolls, having only Curse and Bloodlust.
The issue is resolved – the stratum is working. I’ll probably record a video later. I’m a bit tired and don’t really feel like replaying it for recording right now.
I wouldn't be surprised if you had to hit it twice. And besides, I'd like to see how to defeat 5 Archons with three Gnolls, having only Curse and Bloodlust.
A small clarification - two Gnolls or, more precisely, using two Gnolls, which are quite different things =) scars of reality
Thank you for another video, I haven't been treated so well in a long time. I like this battle more than the previous one because the enemy Harpy is used as an obstacle.
Marlo also suggested a walkthrough of this battle without micro-managing around the ropes, but there the factor of randomness played a much bigger role, although such a battle might appear in the future on some map.
Is it some kind of bug again? I don't see any other options. He has 5 archons, with 99 attack and defense. We only have 2 weak gnolls with 1 attack and defense. The spells are curse and bloodlust. You can't even win this in an open battle, even with 3 gnolls. wenwell
Thank you for another video.
You're welcome, I don't mind. I can even record a 3-hour finale from the previous map. :D (just kidding). Although the initial part of the battle - the hypnosis of the liches and the subsequent mana drain of the opponent - is relatively short. wenwell
Marlo also suggested a walkthrough of this battle without micromanaging around the ropes.
And how else can this battle be passed, if it's not a secret? wenwell
Such a battle will appear in the future on some map.
I can already imagine this map. They'll give you one gremlin right away, and you have to go through all the battles on an XL-sized map with it. There, defeat a hundred archons, here defeat two hundred azure dragons. Easy. :D
Yes, but it's not relevant, as I said – let it be. We need this hero in one piece. scars of reality
And how else can we complete this battle, if you don't mind sharing?
In general, it involves planning a route where we drag two stacks of pikemen along for a while, after which one of the stacks needs to distract another of our gnolls. There's an element of chance involved (choosing between two targets that can be reached in the same number of turns).
