I don't understand what "platinum" is. I'm a newbie, I don't understand anything.

There is such a thing as the Platinum series of Heroes 3, also called 4.0, but in fact, it's SOD 3.2.

There are versions of Heroes 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2. WoG is version 3.5x. Platinum is version 4.0. So, 3.0, 3.1, and 3.5x are not compatible with 4.0. If you have Platinum (4.0) installed, the other player must also have Platinum (4.0) or 3.2 installed. And if you have 3.0 or 3.1, you need to patch it to version 3.2.
