Actually, one could argue with that. I (as a reminder, I am part of the male audience) have never found them even remotely attractive, and in the latest installment, they seem to have intentionally made them scary (judging by the video).

On the other hand, my female friends generally like the race and its individual members, as they don't see anything wrong with female sodomy. But I still think that when creating the Asari, they were clearly targeting a male audience.
