Yes, I even asked Revan about it a few minutes ago. Funny thing is, I actually thought you were done for today and would only be back tomorrow. I stepped away to do some things and thought, "Okay, when I get back, I'll probably roleplay and write that I went to keep an eye on you." And while you were standing near the cave offline, I went inside. But you did come back after all... Well, sorry.
Players probably wouldn't have even left the cave. You would have just opened the chest, and the whole group would have exploded.
I remembered Sevr's post about 18 players and I'm a little sad that it didn't happen; it would have been very funny.
Regarding the new characters, I think it might be a good idea to implement recruitment outside of quests (i.e., at the base) to avoid forced storylines and exploits.
- Where is Aunt Min? Could she have been attacked by bandits? Or maybe she's with someone? Our little soldier will have a new round soon. I'll go look for her, okay? I want some kind of RPG-style closure, not a soulless meta-game, so I'm heading to the cave.
Using the same coordinates as Min, Emma reaches the ill-fated cave and discovers the remains of the archer mixed with pieces of the collapsed cave ceiling.
- Aunt Min? Is that you? - Emma stirred the remains with a stick, trying to determine what they belonged to. - How are you? She shook her head in the universally understood gesture of denial. Even if she could be restored like any other broken thing, too much material had been lost under the rubble. She was about to leave when she remembered that she needed to check if there were any belongings left - a very important element of material possessions for a mercenary.
"Oh yes, according to the rules, I have to say something," the girl picked up and dusted off her hat, then held it to her chest. "We weren't acquainted for long, but it's still strange to realize that you're no longer useful and I won't see you again. You have such a pure, even, and beautiful face, Aunt Min, not at the moment, of course, but in general – that's why you stood out among all our colleagues and always reminded me of my friends from my father's mansion. And you always greeted me and answered my informational requests. Even if Uncle Aldric constructs or hires someone else to replace you and names them after you, I will know that it's a fake and a pathetic copy. But maybe, when I return home, I'll ask my father to make me another sister and name her 'Aunt Min,' and she will have your face. Although, no, my father won't be able to help me. Well, then I'll make you myself. It will probably be the right thing to do from a sentimental point of view. I don't quite understand it yet, but I'll probably understand it over time. Okay, I'm going now; they're all waiting for me there."
Emma curtsied, put on her hat, left the cave, and went to report to the leader of the Hearts.
The Yagensdorfian perceived the puppet’s story philosophically. From the very beginning, the note from the Visterian seemed suspicious to him, although he certainly hadn’t expected such an outcome. The death of Min, although not the most pleasant news for him, didn’t affect him much. After all, Aldrik couldn’t really call the Shinshekaian his friend, considering they had only known each other for a short time, and their relationship was purely business.
I wanted to write a longer text, but it’s not coming easily, and I don’t really want to drag the game on. Let it be like this.
