I tend to agree. I would be hesitant to drink it, considering that the chances are already good without it. Although, it seems to me that this is help from Revan for characters who are less "terminator-like" than Relhiras.
These samurai are interesting. It seems that they are simply terrified of death and serious injuries, so fleeing from battle, losing, and letting their comrades down are not a problem for them. However, receiving a fatal wound, even if the battle was won, is a shock, a nightmare, and a life ruined. And enhanced stats are the result of a fanatical desire to survive and avoid injuries.
