The feast was gradually coming to an end. Some were going to sleep. Some had already fallen asleep at the feast table, embracing a bottle of liquor. And some were enjoying the evening scenery. At that moment, Aldric and Rheinheld were lying in each other's arms in their tent. — It brings back memories, doesn't it? — Rheinheld said thoughtfully, staring at the tent ceiling. — Perhaps, — Aldric agreed. — It's almost like that time. — Except we're older now, and "Niflheim" is not "The Pack" after all, — the swordswoman sniffed, — and I didn't smell of alcohol back then. — Not "The Pack," of course. But they are similar. They made a good impression. I wouldn't mind meeting them again, in such a friendly setting. — It sounds like you wouldn't mind joining their ranks! — Rheinheld's voice had teasing notes, and a sly smile spread across her face. Let us die.
The next morning, the "Iron Hearts" bid farewell to their new acquaintances and continued their journey towards the city where Burtarg lived and reigned – the objective of the quest given to them by the leader of the Sun Clan. Girr, unlike Glineos, did not possess the grandeur characteristic of the city of Sharron and could not boast of great wealth; overall, it resembled more a large military camp than one of the most important cities of Heckel. Despite this, there were no fewer people here. At the entrance to the city, travelers were greeted by a huge statue of some deity, outwardly resembling a strong warrior clad in armor and armed with an axe. Further on, the main attraction of this city caught the eye – the Arena. According to locals, battles are held here every day, and in the middle of each month, a tournament is held to earn the right to challenge the clan leader to a duel. The result of such practice is that, regardless of the era, the leaders of the Black Serpent clan have always been incredibly strong. Speaking of strength, Burtarg's estate is located in the center of the city and, according to rumors, was built immediately after his coronation several years ago. There he lives with his numerous concubines and sons. The market of Girr could not compete with its counterpart in Glineos, but it could still provide some useful goods to those who seek them. The Black Smithy is another attraction of this city. Little is known about the past of the local blacksmith, but no one doubts the quality of the weapons and armor he makes. And, of course, as in any other city, Girr has its own tavern.
Considering the task at hand, Aldric and Reinheld decided that they probably wouldn't have another chance to visit this city, so they decided to take some time to see the local sights. As before, the Jagensdorf resident designated the local tavern as the meeting point. I'm going to the statue.
The impressively sized statue stood majestically above the small Aldric and Rainhild, and, being an inanimate object, showed no reaction to their gazes. As the two noticed, some passersby stopped near the statue to pray.
It's possible. Good thing I'm playing as a fighter! I should ask about this deity.
Added 2 minutes later Being naturally curious tourists, the couple politely inquired with one of the people who had finished their prayers about the statue.
— If you have a moment, could you tell us more about the Forsaken? Or, at the very least, point us to a place where we could learn more ourselves.
I wouldn't pray to a deity with such a name.
The passerby shrugged, – little is known about the Wanderer, except that he is the patron of the Black Serpent clan, its protector, and mentor. If I remember correctly, such statues are in every major city of Heckelia. Oh, wait, no. Lord Glyneosa ordered the statue of the Wanderer to be destroyed a few years ago, so it's no longer there.
Well, that's it. I thought we were working for a relatively civilized employer and fighting a barbarian. Turns out, our employer is quite the barbarian himself – he's destroying cultural landmarks.
Revan didn't write anything about the religions of this world, so I don't know how logical and correct it is from an RPG perspective. Maybe they have a custom of praying to thousands of different gods, or maybe approaching someone else's statue is already considered inappropriate.
I'm also wondering if the knights' armor can be sold in the market.
