Posts from An attempt to organize a team tournament between countries!
Let me share some thoughts after watching the opening match (Estonia vs. Moldova).
I'll try to be as constructive as possible so that it doesn't get flagged as spam.
1. The unified stream from both sides is simply great, despite some minor technical glitches! I hope someone (we won't name names)
will sacrifice their ego for the sake of the viewers and agree to stream their matches. And in the future, if there are more such Tournaments,
it should be stipulated that when registering, players automatically give their consent to do so.
2. The commentators (Yar and Chris) did an excellent job! But it was noticeable that they were very tired towards the end (it's almost like 4 football matches in a row!!!)
The commentary team needs to be strengthened; one Yar will hardly be able to physically comment on all the games. It would be great to persuade Tvarynya, Amila, Dirty, and others to join!
3. Obviously, the players were very nervous and made a lot of mistakes, which greatly amused the viewers, and that's even a plus!
But overall, well done, the competition and the tension were intense! Congratulations to Vigo on the victory, and I wish everyone good luck in future matches!
The Tournament promises to be very interesting!

Oh, those forum dads who hear a ring and start making stuff up. Do you really think I wrote that post about restreams on my own behalf? Before writing, you should think carefully... otherwise it looks ridiculous, plus in this tournament, everyone who registers in advance initially gives their consent to the restream, because that is how it was intended! There was a thread about restreams on FB.
Regarding the subject, working as a restreamer in this tournament looks terrible, especially given the drawn-out nature of some games, which largely depend on the preparation of the participating players. Naturally, this also lowers the interest not only of the viewers but also of the hosts. It's fine when commentary is done in a pair, but alone, doing Jebus Cross respawn clears for two weeks can make you doze off, not to mention slower templates/games. I think if nothing is figured out, fiascos with 8+ hour games will begin, and also, the time for games should be chosen earlier.

Understood, I got confused, sorry (actually, when I was writing, I was thinking about another player :-)).

Regarding the topic, the work of a restreamer in this tournament looks terrible, especially considering the length of some matches.
So, there should be special respect for it!

Currently, we have about 10 re-streamers. But since not everyone is always available or willing, they won't always be able to re-stream. As the organizer, I will, of course, take on all the matches that no one else is covering because I am responsible for that. If there is a shortage of streamers, I will quickly find additional ones.
There is no need to criticize the guys who declined to re-stream in the tournament. They understand how difficult and thankless this task is. It's better to decline upfront so that people don't rely on you and you don't let anyone down. Even among those who agreed, if someone doesn't re-stream, that's okay. That's life, and things happen. If there is no time or desire, then there is no need to re-stream. What pleasure will you get from a streamer who is doing it reluctantly?
The guys are doing great! There's no doubt about it. I was supposed to stream, and I had already prepared everything, but half an hour before, Yar took over the re-stream, and we quickly exchanged roles and reconfigured everything. As a result, the stream turned out to be more interesting than if I had done it (I'm not exactly the best streamer...).
Regarding the length of the matches. As Hellight said, one option is to agree on an earlier time. But in most cases, this will be on weekends. The second match between Moldova and Estonia will be on Saturday at 12:00 Moscow time.
There is also a rule in the tournament that after 147 turns, streamers can stop the game and award a technical decision (especially if the gap between the players is very large).
And the third point. We will try to support tired re-streamers with fresher streamers who will start their own re-stream, and the tired ones can go and rest. In this game, I provided the backup. But when the workload is higher, there may not be a replacement re-streamer available.
When I was asked on stream if I was invited to the "world" tournament, I replied that no, no one bothered to invite me, because apparently, there were more significant candidates
Therefore, when I see a message about a stream featuring a player from the top 200 against a player from the top 250 in a thread with the loud title "world team tournament," I just feel ashamed for those who organized it.
Please, if you weren't shy about calling yourselves that, then do everything at the highest level so that it wouldn't be embarrassing for everyone involved, or call yourselves something else... It looks terrible! Sorry, but I had to say it.
P.S. I also want to restrict the right to restream my game through various platforms for the creator of this thread.

I agree! Today, I watched a player from Estonia who has absolutely no idea what a rush, single-unit attacks, or chains are; it was as if the computer was playing... and where did he sign up? For the world championship! It's just funny... and then everyone asks, why aren't many experienced players participating in this championship? I think it's obvious!
Van, what if you haven't quite understood what's going on? What about the players from the top 200 and top 250? What countries are they from? The tournament is a team event, and the teams represent countries (there is one exception – a world team, but even there, players from countries that don't have their own teams will play if possible). Are you upset that you weren't invited to play for the countries from which the "top 200" and "top 250" come? Estonia? Moldova? Lithuania? Serbia? Surely not?
Or is it about Russia? And then the question is for the captain of Russia – Bishop, but maybe he just hasn't had time yet. Besides, if the question is specifically for Bishop, you can ask him in a private message.
Honestly, I didn't think there would be any opponents to this event, and it really upset me, even though I wasn't involved in the tournament itself. Personally, I can only say good things; a truly titanic amount of preparatory work was done. Yes, there are some flaws, but who doesn't have them?! With all due respect, why should the organizer personally invite every star?! The tournament was announced long before the start; those who wanted to participate could sign up themselves.

With all due respect, why should the organizer invite each star personally?!
First of all, FTS is not "each star," but rather the best player of 2017. A player of this caliber is a rare gem, and there are good reasons to treat him specially. Secondly, arguments for why the organizer should invite each star personally can also be found with some minimal effort.
But the real issue lies elsewhere. I think that, due to a combination of factors, Ivan simply wasn't invited in time. Armag didn't get around to it because he was already busy gathering players from all over the world and helping to captain several teams. And perhaps a few other stars, whom he had spoken with, may have dampened his enthusiasm regarding communication with top-tier players. For Armag, as an organizer, the main goal was to gather smaller teams so that the tournament would take place, while such "heavyweights" as Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine would somehow manage to assemble themselves. Well, Russia assembled itself in such a way that they forgot to invite FTS. Bishop also didn't get around to it. There was no conspiracy here. And hopefully everything will resolve itself now if Ivan isn't put off by the rules and expresses a desire to play. After all, there are no restrictions on the number of players or the timing of when they join the tournament.
When I was asked on stream: "Have you been invited to the 'world' tournament?" I replied that no, no one bothered to invite me, because apparently, there were more significant candidates

Maybe you should first bother to read the tournament regulations, and then feel ashamed (or get upset)?!

Okay, let's go through everything in order.
1. No one invited anyone to the tournament. A thread was created, and then there was a long discussion about who wanted to be the captain of the teams and who wanted to play. Many remained silent and didn't want to take responsibility. We should thank the guys who stepped up, not criticize them. Every tournament has its critics, and that's normal, but there's no need to get offended. For some, this tournament is boring (or even worse), for others it's a show, for others it's a mega spectacle. You can't please everyone. If you really want to play, write to Bishop; I don't think you won't be invited with your skill. For example, you don't even need to be invited to games against Estonia – there, players with an average ХВ rating will be enough, and you won't even be interested in playing. But against stronger and more famous players, it's a completely different story.
2. Grand title – well, yes, it's grand. But what does that change? The CIS Championship also has a grand title – does that mean only the best play there? No. The tournament features those who have the desire, the opportunity, and, of course, the regulations must also be taken into account. Every tournament has specific goals. And it's not the name that makes the tournament, but the tournament that makes the name. It can be called a world tournament because players from many countries are playing, the announcement was also made on many portals, and there was communication with foreign players. You will see the results in the tournament.
3. Ashamed that someone organized it? I'm ashamed that no one has been involved in this for many years, even though they have more opportunities than I do, many times more. I'm a country boy who quits his job and sacrifices a lot for others. If you want something better, show me how it's done. I'll gladly watch it. Moreover, not only will I watch, but I won't criticize and will even help in any way I can. Because I know what it's like and I know how much headache it causes.
4. Difference in the level of players. Well, Ivan, where am I going to find the best players for each team? It was difficult to put some teams together – let alone choose players. In any sport, teams of different strengths play. Or should we ban weaker teams from playing in tournaments in all sports?
5. Now about the quality. I'm doing my best to make sure the tournament even takes place and doesn't fall apart halfway through. I don't get enough sleep, I solve problems for all the teams, I make graphic overlays, I put together teams that have fallen apart, I communicate with the captains, I help coordinate players, resolve disputes, I'm online almost constantly, I look for streamers for the games, I advise players, etc. Am I supposed to split myself in two? I asked for help, for those who have the same desire. And now it turns out – "we don't want to help, but we want to criticize"... Of course, everything won't be smooth, not even close. Many problems remain behind the scenes (and I hope they stay that way), and some are during the streams and discussions. But I will do my best to avoid what happened with some tournaments, where the number of scandals was simply overwhelming... Everything is done completely free of charge, and it turns out as much as I can manage... A big thank you to the streamers who decided to spend their personal time on this tournament for free, just like me. They are the people without whom this tournament would not have taken place at all!
6. Restreaming my game on different platforms? Have I ever restreamed your game? No. Where did this information come from, and what's the complaint? We had a conversation about re-uploading your games to YouTube, but when you created your own YouTube channel, I stopped doing it because the videos are already stored with you. I just find some old games and upload them. But if you're now refusing to do even that, I won't do it anymore.
Honestly, I didn't expect this from you, Vanya... In any case, my good opinion of you will remain. You are a very good player and a very good person. And if I offended you in any way, I apologize; I was wrong... I take responsibility for my mistakes and didn't want to offend anyone.
On Saturdays, I go to the sauna and drink. Therefore, please excuse me for what I said in the heat of the moment, especially to Armageddts and his team.
In reality, I don't have any complaints about not being invited, and Armag and his team are doing a great job. We will be able to objectively assess the effect of this work only in the future. Therefore, honestly, I take my hat off to him.
As for the low level of play of individual players from various teams, that is no longer the organizer's fault.
I'm not ashamed for the country, but for the fact that I get drunk and go to the forum and write all sorts of nonsense.

No big deal. It happens to everyone. Thanks for the explanation. And I'm glad we sorted it out. I thought I might have offended someone... And since all the teams are unlimited, we don't know who will be invited and who won't. No one from Russia has played yet (the first game will not be earlier than in a week), and it is not yet clear who will play for the national team. They will definitely select their own players to match the level of the opponents.
