Please don't ask any questions. I watched 12 episodes (there are 13 in total, but one episode was missing on the site where I was watching; fortunately, the plot is still understandable without it). I don't know if there will be more, I'm not in the mood to search for it right now.
+ Obviously weaker than Sailor Moon, but much stronger than W.I.T.C.H. and Monster High. The characters are good, although not all of them are fully developed. The idea is good. The plot is interesting, although it's as cliché as can be. The girls are cute, cheerful, and memorable (especially Snezka and Alyona; Masha and Varya are also good, but I keep confusing them). The visual style is bold, using elements of comics and anime; overall, it's quite pleasant and not overly generic. Koschei is great, a real villain, he reminds me of Master Delgado.
- Not bold enough. Too childish, too refined. Maybe I'm just comparing it too much to Sailor Moon and setting the bar too high, but I want a little more depth, a way to stretch out the action (an episode is 10 minutes long, while Sailor Moon episodes are 20 minutes, and the plot developed more slowly - maybe that's the reason, or maybe they shouldn't have chosen such a short runtime). Again, it wouldn't hurt to develop the characters more, add more details - the plot revolves around Alyona, while the other girls are just doing magic from the first episode, and it's taken for granted; I would like to see more of their backstories (maybe this will be explored later, there are hints). There are questions about the fairytale setting - it's based on Russian folk tales, but there are also gingerbread men and Malvinas; there's also Western culture that doesn't fit and is out of place in everyday life. I would like to refine it a bit and adapt it to our realities. The graphics could also be a little more serious, it's too bright and deliberately cartoonish now (although I like bright colors).
= 7/10, the series is frankly childish, underdeveloped, a bit awkward, and raises many questions, but I think it's a good step in the right direction. I've been waiting for a series like this for two years. I have my own ideas about a "Cranberry Edition" of magical girls, and what is shown here is very different from my version (I abandoned the obvious division by elements, and focused more on cultural diversity), but it also has its merits. I really enjoyed watching this cartoon, and I slightly inflated the rating out of pure viewer sympathy. I think I'll keep an eye on it, but not obsessively, because there's a very interesting plot brewing. We're on the right track, comrades.
