Posts from Heroes of Might and Magic III - Complete Collection + Era2 + VCMI + Utility.
I mainly choose mods in the VCMI window. The following mods are installed:
I understand that you are playing the VCMI version. These heroes have been in development for a long time, but its version hasn't even reached version 1.0 (the current version is 0.99), so there may still be many bugs and shortcomings (although a lot of content has already been modded for VCMI). I added it to my VCMI build relatively recently, based on the principle of "why not?". Most likely, many errors will be fixed in the near future.
P.S. Are crashes with portals also occurring if you play the original VCMI without any connected mods?!

Yes, I know. I was even surprised that in your build, all the cities loaded well and you could play them completely (even the Asian Amethyst). In September, when I tried playing VCMI (it wasn't your build, but I just downloaded the VCMI client that was current at the time), it was a terrible ordeal with bugs, and it was generally impossible to play, except to put together a specific set of mods (new castles) and just test the castles themselves, and even then, not for long. Now (most likely due to the release of the new VCMI version 0.99), you can play quite normally, albeit with some caveats. rruuss
P.S. I wonder if crashes with portals also occur if you play the original VCMI without connected mods?
I don't know, I haven't tried it yet.
P.S.: I found these castles on the internet (which are not in the build):
I came across these castles on the internet (which are not in the collection):
These cities are not in the collection, but it's difficult to find anything online based on the images. On Friday, I'll make a second fix with new cities for VCMI: bastille, Christmas, Ciberium, and Necro (which was in a YouTube video).
By the way, there are many different cities in the collection for era2 as well.

Bastille is one of the four cities with dwarves in the picture; Christmas was just released, I think (I only saw it on YouTube yesterday); Ciberium, I think, is already in the build.
As for the remaining three pictures: 1) One of them is the second version of the Grove city; I managed to install both mods in September (one was based on Wow, and it seems to have been at the beginning, and the second Grove was made later, as far as I understand). Here's where someone posted this mod: http://wforum.heroes35.net/showthread.php?tid=1082 2) The Castle where the Wendigo is, is most likely one of the cities in Era2 (alternative creatures for the Titan's Castle; I don't even know if there's a mod for VCMI). 3) And the Castle where the Guardians are, seems to be one of the latest versions of the Haven Castle. This is not a mod with a separate Castle, but just a replacement of the Conflux with this Castle, but still: http://wforum.heroes35.net/showthread.php?tid=1138
When I was looking for new Castles in the fall, I didn't find any more (I spent several days specifically to browse everything carefully). Unless there's a mod for the Mario Castle somewhere else, but I haven't come across it. )

The Grove mod in this collection is available for both Era and VCMI. Ogneyar
3) and the Castle where the Guardians are located is one of the latest versions of the Refuge Castle. This is not a mod with a separate castle, but just a replacement of the Conflux with this castle, but still: http://wforum.heroes35.net/showthread.php?tid=1138
The Grove mod is available in this collection for both Era and VCMI.
There is another Grove in the assembly – the one based on Wow; they have the same castles, but the creatures are completely different. The Grove that I linked to is not in the assembly.
I don't know how it is for other mods (haven't checked), but for VCMI, new problems have appeared – the game doesn't create random maps at all, it writes: "it is impossible to create a random map that meets the specified requirements." I don't know what's wrong, but I tried several times, and it seems that the January version of VCMI is simply glitching, because I installed it with only three mods, and even without any mods (just left an empty field), and I chose different map conditions, but it still writes the same thing. There were no such problems with Fix2. P.S.: If anything, I installed the patch on the game with FIX2, and when the described error appeared, I completely reinstalled the game and installed FIX3 right away. But unfortunately, it didn't help. Luckily, I didn't delete the Fix2 patch from my flash drive.

There is such a problem. And when you rolled back to FIX2, did the problem go away?
In general, after spending about half an hour searching, I finally managed to get it working, albeit not immediately. As practice has shown, if you don't set it in the "only player vs. computer" section (or set it to 0), everything else works normally.
Based on what I've found, it seems like I should try installing FIX3 and, while maintaining the same condition, attempt to create a random map in the new version of the game.

Could you be more specific? I still haven't been able to launch a random map in VCMI!

In general, I reinstalled the game with Fix2 (I didn't install Fix 3 this time), and first deleted the VCMI folder in My Documents/My Games. At first, it wouldn't launch, even though I tried different numbers of players, different maps, and different castles. But then I gave up and left the settings as default (cubes). The map was created. Initially, the computer created maps of size 72x72 (M), but with different numbers of players, different amounts of water, monster strength, etc. Based on 4 randomly created maps, I determined that the selection of new cities did not interfere with map creation. Since the settings in the maps were different, only the team settings and the settings for the computer players remained. Through trial and error, I found what was interfering. But I repeat that this was with Fix2 installed (without Fix3).
