Is it possible to open the standard maps that come with Heroes 5 in the map editor, including the multiplayer maps?

It is possible...
To do this, use any archiver to open data.pak, find the maps folder, and extract it... After that, opening the map will not be a problem...

And what about the bugs? Are you sure it will work after all those clumsy attempts?

What about the bugs? Are you sure it will work after all the tinkering?
Well, if the person doing the tinkering knows what they're doing, it should work... Everything works for me....
I wouldn't recommend something I haven't tested myself...

How do you change the map's splash screen?
It's quite a process... you need to open the map's code and insert the appropriate code in the right place. Before that, you also need to put the image in an archive... In short, if you're interested, take a look at how it's done in the attached map.
Check the map's code... you'll find the name of the splash screen file there; it's in DDS format!

I looked at someone else's example, but I just realized why the images aren't working. Could it be due to the size?

I looked at the contents of the data.pak folder in the maps directory. There are a lot of different files there, but there's nothing you can open with an editor.

Take a look at mine... it's easier to understand, with less unnecessary stuff... you'll quickly find what you're looking for.

Could someone explain it step by step?

The maps there are a bit strange... Not in h5m format, but a bunch of files, and it's unclear where they go... :smile17:

And if I modify the standard maps, will they work? And where are they located?

And where can I get it? I'm having the same problem!

EUREKA!!!
I figured it out!

By myself and with my own intellect (almost – thanks to HEROESWORLD).
Those who knew everything all along (Xaker, for example:smile31:) could have shared the details. For everyone else.

But since no one is talking, I'll tell you.

Go into the data folder, then into data.pak/Maps. Look around. Here’s an example using Contested Island (Maps/Multiplayer/A1M3/A1m3). I simply extracted it from there. Created a1m3_1.zip/Maps/Multiplayer/A1M3/{all files here}. Renamed a1m3_1.zip to a1m3_1.h5m. It didn’t work. Then I “cut out” one of the folders named A1M3, resulting in a1m3_1.zip/Maps/Multiplayer/A1M3/{all files here}. Again, I changed the extension to h5m, put it in maps, and voilà! Now I can edit Contested Island however I want. Of course, it will be a separate map. And there are also some problems with the texts. More precisely, there are no texts (which isn't really a problem:)). You need to rewrite them (or find them somewhere in texts.pak and copy them from there).

Read more here: How to create Mods.

If something is wrong, please correct me (I only tested this practically).
