We invite you to take part in the qualifying tournament for the main online tournament of the year, FB-11 :smile03:

I. Regulations and Deadlines

The qualifying tournament will be held using a "Swiss" system

The tournament starts on July 28 at 21-00; the draw is at 20-30 on the Dirty_Player channel. Registration is open until the start of the draw.

The time limit for one round is 2 weeks — this time, awards and techs will be issued without delay. Thus, draws for subsequent rounds will begin on time!!
Players must agree on a common game time themselves; judges will base their decisions on the attempts and desire of both players to play. In case of extreme stubbornness from both participants, a mutual tech-loss will follow, so I recommend contacting your opponent immediately after the draw to reach an agreement. If no one can agree at all, keep the judges informed; in exceptional cases involving a language barrier, an ODD may be appointed. If one of the players fails to appear at the scheduled time, the second player must write to the organizer or judge, and this will be the primary argument when issuing a tech result.

OFB will consist of 9 rounds; preliminarily, 5 players advance to the final part, but under certain circumstances (such as tie-breaking for places, a player who reserved a spot in FB withdrawing, etc.), the lead organizer has the right to expand this list. (Having the right does not mean they necessarily will — for the particularly meticulous demagogues :) )

The organizer reserves the right to change and supplement these regulations. If the AC adopts any changes to the rules after the start of the tournament, they will automatically come into force in this tournament starting from the round following the current one. (Changes will not apply to games already in progress)

Attention all participants! Anyone who has unconfirmed reports 1 week old or older at the time the tournament starts will not be admitted — registration will be denied. Please check current tournaments and the season for debts here: http://heroes3stat.tk/unconfirmed/

II. Rules and Templates.

upd. 12.08.17: two tech-losses result in the participant's disqualification from the tournament and a likely miss of the next tournament.
upd. 04.08.17 0. Rebuilding is allowed and must be enabled on all templates. Regarding the library by default — it is allowed only in the starting tower. Anyone who started a game under other rules finishes according to them. From the second round, these rules apply by default
1. By default, games are played according to /topic/10593/
2. By default, the game version is SoD 3.2 (4.0)+latest HD-mod+HeroesWorld Rules 1.38, connect via hamachi (if it doesn't work, then TeamViewer). By mutual agreement: WT, HotA, or any other HOMM3 version, even WoG :D
3. Template selection. I believe a good player should be able to play on any template, so different templates will be played in the tournament, most likely all 9: :smile03: The list is as follows: h3dm1, mt-diamond, anarchy L+U 160% trade, skirmish M-U 200% all random, Jebus cross, 8mm6a, 6LM10a, 8xm12a, and Spider. The distribution by rounds will be random for greater interest. :)
4. Castle selection. Randomizer + trade. Regeneration of a pair of castles is permitted for 500 coins. The blue player first states their desire/lack of desire to keep the current pair. Then comes the same-color trade.
5. Rules for playing on h3dm1 and mt-diamond (computer castles are random). Read carefully before starting the game. By default, these specific rules will apply.
a). Timer 21+8-30+1-15. It is permitted to pass by shifted guards onto any lands. Only medium roads. Trading. First, the castle is determined. Each participant has the right to ban one castle before generation. The blue player first states their desire/lack of desire to ban a castle, after which in HW-Rulz mode, those castles are banned and the random 1-castle generator is launched. The game will be played with this castle.
b). Trading also occurs for color and the right to choose the hero (therefore red-rush is allowed). Each player has the right to cross out 1 hero before the trade for them begins (they may waive this right), then trading for the hero occurs (when starting with Conflux, we trade just as we do for other castles), followed by trading for color. If a banned hero arrives at tavern 111 of any player with troops — auto-restart. The rule breaker gets a tech-loss. The hero must be declared to the opponent immediately after generation (for slowpokes :D within 10 seconds after start)
c). There is 1 subjective restart and objective restarts (restart due to block (inability to leave the castle) or a severe generation bug) — this is discussed between players; if no consensus is reached, the player has the right to save and contact the judges once (this applies to all templates), but please do not abuse this right as it drags out games. Objective restarts are taken no later than 112.
d). It is forbidden to steal anything other than resources and chests by passing shifted guards, or to visit objects (except mills for resources and gold, as well as boosters for increasing movement points) that do not have their own internal guard.
e). The main rule — game ethics and respectful treatment of the opponent. For violation of this rule, including on streams, sanctions against the violating player are possible, up to a ban from the tournament.
7. Skirmish is played m200 according to standard rules:

/topic/10593/

Additions: restarts total two days. Who starts red first is determined by a coin toss. Roads 1-2 (slow and medium). Players have the right to change rules by mutual agreement, except for the template being played.
Coin rule: The player who wins the draw has the right to choose the starting color in the first generation. For this, the HW Rules "Flip a Coin" option is used; the one who guesses the resulting number has the right to choose the starting color.
8. Before the round deadline, the winning player must write a report, and the loser must confirm it — those who fail to follow this rule are not admitted to the draw for the next round!
9. 3 points are given for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss.
Winners are determined by the number of points earned. In case of equal points, additional indicators apply:
1) Buchholz coefficient
2) Head-to-head match
10. In the last two rounds, draws are forbidden at the players' request!!!

11. Roads for templates:
Jebus cross - only fast
skirmish - slow and medium
Mirror and Mirror-Diamond - only medium
Anarchy - all roads
HL+U - only medium

12. On all templates, using the grail digging acceleration bug is forbidden.

III. Organizational Issues
1. The tournament is official and regular.
2. The tournament is conducted according to the Rules for organizing, conducting, and participating in tournaments.
3. Tournament Lead — KobRa icq#(286406830), skype#(kobrarr),
whatsapp, viber, telegram (number in PM)
Tournament Judge and Co-Lead Dirty_Player (ICQ 408722873)
Assistants — we'll manage on our own.
4. For each played game, participants must submit a report and confirmation
5. Saves of all games must be kept until the end of the tournament and presented upon first request by the tournament leads or any member of the AC.
6. Disputed points, if any arise, please discuss outside the forum, in PMs. For a resolution, you must contact the Lead or Tournament Judge via ICQ and provide daily saves, ICQ logs, and other necessary information. An appeal against the Judge's decision can and should be submitted to the AC, rather than starting a flame war in the thread — it will be immediately deleted and penalty points will be assigned.
7. All tournament games go into the seasonal rating. Reports and confirmations are written in this thread.
8. The final part of the tournament will be held using a round-robin (or group) system.

IV. Participants
1. Experienced players from HW and other game resources are invited to the tournament.
2. Newcomers who have shown good results are permitted (applications will be considered on an individual basis).
3. Recently registered players are not admitted to the tournament (exception — active players from other game resources; applications will be considered on an individual basis).
4. Players with a "Black Mark" (ЧМЧ) have no right to participate in the tournament. If any player is given a Black Mark during the tournament, they will be disqualified and their results annulled.
5. Applications from undisciplined players who have repeatedly "blown off" tournaments may be rejected.
6. The organizers reserve the right to refuse participation in the tournament to a user without public explanation of reasons.
7. The Winner and 2nd-3rd place finishers of the FB-10 tournament are NOT admitted to the qualifiers (Gomunguls, Amster, LuckyF)

The suggestions are a bit late; if there's going to be a discussion, it should happen before the tournament. Simultaneously with the selection of a host, if such a selection exists. Conservatives will say that a pool of templates, a general vote by participants, and then let's go is needed. Revolutionaries will say that they meant such approaches, it's boring, sad, and depressing, and they will also be right. I was also unhappy with the selection of templates, which I usually just quickly sketched out, but in reality, all the games turned out to be balanced, although it's still early to say. The main problem with Heroes is the imbalance, and this is inherent in all templates. I would suggest discussing and restructuring, as there are now many newcomers in the top of the ranking. Previously, you had to manage to climb to second place in the third league and fight there, but now you just defend resources and build a Grand Master. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my opinion. Perhaps we need to recruit more people into the Tournament Committee to conduct tournaments. I haven't seen Skadi in a long time.

I noticed in the streams that many people aren't reading the rules carefully – the monsters are medium level (3), not (4). If anyone has already played with strong (4) monsters, try playing a Best of 3 (5) – it might be easier. :)
And regarding restarts: no one is stopping you from agreeing with your opponent to each have 10 restarts. Learn to communicate :smile33:

It's possible, but what makes these two templates better than others? Are they more conservative? That's a weak argument. Variety is a positive thing, and I chose them to please everyone: 4 XL+U and 3 L+U (2 mirrors and Anarchy, which contradict each other) + Jeb + M200. So, according to my idea, everyone should be able to find something for themselves. :)
If I were choosing solely for myself, there would be no Anarchy or 6LM, and the list would be different, as would the rules.

Well, I'm not really ready to use the word "better." In my opinion, the 9 templates mentioned have more in common with each other than if they were chosen differently. That is, they require relatively similar skills. Anarchy and M200 (as well as Panic/Balance and others that weren't included) require somewhat different skills. Smka also stands out a bit, but I still see it as closer to the standard templates.
However, variety is good in its own way. My comment shouldn't be taken as criticism. I just wanted to answer the question of how else you could choose 9 templates. Perhaps with this set, even more participants would disagree. :)

All templates can be divided into two groups: contact and non-contact:
The first group includes MM6, Spider, M200, MT-Diamond (in my opinion), and HM12 with some reservations; the rest are all non-contact. Accordingly, some require the ability to play a contact game with minimal troops and artifacts, while others do not. In my experience, people prefer closed templates because many (mistakenly) see their advantage there, either that they will be able to gain an advantage or, conversely, that it will be more suitable for them. What am I getting at? The fact that to progress as a player and develop your skills, you need to step outside of your comfort zone. And those who constantly play the same thing, and with the same opponent, are more likely to regress than to improve.))

Solmyr too OP for this template.
Thanks for playing!
In the beginning stupidly wasted 5 minutes because thought that my color is blue. :D Anyway, managed to take necrotown on 112 and collect some gold and timer up to the opponent's.
Killed guards to treasure on 121 with 4 efreeti and some base army, observed guards guarding passes and was sure that opponent maybe will not go to this zone. So went to the village, but unfortunately on 122 blue Solmyr just came from the portal, killed fast 50-99 magogs and attacked me. Started the battle with lightning killing 2 efreeti, so everything went clear.

Thanks for the game!

There was a time when I played 100+ mirror matches with Pasha Pavkur. We played every day. We degraded to 0 and started losing to everyone:D.

p.s. Artem, I sometimes really love you for some of your thoughts;).

And I appreciate you for your straightforwardness! ;)

p.s. It's just that these organizations have become overly sensitive – Cobra, Dirty. Why are you so offended?
Because I'm really annoyed by such advisors. When there was a need to hold an OFB (Official Friendly Battle), none of the hosts wanted to take on the task. Artem agreed, on the condition that I would help. Okay, we decided, we launched the tournament. While registration was ongoing, the rules were written, and everyone was just clicking buttons... Halfway through the tournament, the rules were already wrong, the templates were already bad, etc. Out of these templates, I don't like 6 out of 9... Well, I am playing.

And in general:
Roger-ua
Suggestions are late; if there is going to be a discussion, it should be before the tournament. At the same time as choosing a host, if there is a choice...
LuckyF
but what's wrong with a template from an adequate pool of templates?
Once again, returning to this issue. It is difficult to select an adequate pool of templates so that everyone likes it. In the current reality, with the current templates, any tournament turns into OnlyXL, which many people don't like. As soon as you start diversifying the pool, complaints begin that it is impossible to reach XL. In the end, any pool boils down to the possibility of reaching XL or avoiding XL. And that's a dead end.
KobRa_RR
I would be happy to discuss the "so-called papacy of templates."
I would also like to join the discussion. After all, a pool of templates is needed for FB (Friendly Battle). :smile13:

Anarchy, Dwarven tunnels, Clash of Dragons, 6lm10a, Ring - these would probably be perfect for us

If someone doesn't like it here, they shouldn't register. The tournament is good, and the organizer is doing a great job! I'm interested in playing on different maps; I haven't played on some of them much. And for those who don't like the maps, it's like they say: a bad dancer always blames his shoes! 😀

Maybe the best option would be to return to good old cherk from 15 templates and nobody would need to complain. Personally I don't like some of these templates, but I don't think complaining about bad templates 5 rounds into the tournament is constructive behaviour, it will only piss off the organizers who devote their energy and time for these tournaments. When you sign for a tournament you agree to the rules they set up, so maybe discuss before the start of the tournament?

Those who don't like something here, shouldn't register. The tournament is good, and the organizer is doing a great job! I'm interested in playing on different maps, as I haven't played on some of them at all. And for those who don't like the maps, it's like saying the shoes are too tight! 😀
I agree! I wouldn't have played most of these maps myself, but here I have to try, grumbling and cursing, but overcoming my own laziness and stupidity.
And I can only express my great respect to the organizers! I realize how much effort and enthusiasm it takes to organize something like this!
