You misunderstood me. I meant that the edited version, a custom heroes version, won't replace the original The Shadow of Death.

Where are the fonts located? In Heroes 3... I really want to change them (In the complete collection version of Heroes 3, the default font is so awful that it's annoying; I'd like to replace it with the one from the screenshot in post #7).

There are many programs for opening resources.
For example, Restorator or ResHacker.
There's something for every taste...

Hmm. Then try Restaurator 2007.

Open ResEditor, click file\open resource file, and select the game archive you need, for example h3bitmap.lod. Now we have a bunch of files in front of us. You can sort them, replace something, extract (right-click), or edit. Put the edited files back using the following method: open edit\file manager, find the folder with the modified files, and drag them with the mouse into the archive window. After completing all operations, click make change on the toolbar, launch the game, and see what we've managed to do here.

This is also how you can plug in fonts. Here are some fonts from a pirated version. They are slightly too large, but everything is clearly visible!
Request: if anyone has a licensed copy of Heroes Chronicles, please upload the fonts from there. I remember playing Restoration/Ice Blade, and the fonts there were great. The extraction process is described above.

Well, generally speaking, you can extract the building images (Prt Scr), but it depends on what you need them for, because the images are very small due to the resolution… For example, here’s the Mage Guild from Conflux… Is this what you need? ;)

Here, I found another program, and it doesn't seem like you mentioned it before - ResEdit :cool: (I checked, and it works). The program takes up 729KB on the disk and decodes files into *bmp. Here's a quote and a link: "With this program, you can extract the contents of lod files (in the DATA directory), which contain all the graphics, texts, and campaigns of the Heroes games. Size: 308 KB."
