Favorites, to Battle! - 5
For the fifth time now, we must fight for our favorite castle, prove its strength, and delight the spectators with interesting games and unconventional combinations of castles. In this tournament, each player immediately chooses a race that they will play throughout the entire tournament.
Looking at history, one can find that the first such tournament took place in 2008.
Only one player - Dirty Player - participated in the entire series, and it is very unfortunate that almost certainly the tradition will be broken this time.
No castle and no player has won the tournaments twice. Necropolis, Conflux, Swamp, and Castle have already proven their power. Surprisingly, in ALL past tournaments, Rampart came second, including twice through the efforts of Javdet. Will Rampart or Dungeon - the widely recognized favorites of SoD - finally win this time? Or will a previous winner repeat their success? Or perhaps Barbarians, Demons, or the inhabitants of the Tower?
I. General Questions.
1. Throughout the tournament, each participant plays as their chosen favorite race. If two identical races meet in a game, heroes are chosen either by mutual agreement or randomly.
2. Game version SoD 3.2 (4.0), WT by mutual consent, or any other.
The use of a Mod to improve the functional part of the interface is recommended - HoMM3 HD. For the group stage, the HDmod version is by mutual consent. The player using HDmod is responsible for all bugs arising from its use.
3.Color in the draw tables is for the first generation. Then colors are changed after each SUBJECTIVE restart.
4. Any changes to the game rules are allowed by mutual consent of the players, except for changing the Favorite Castle and the Fair Play rule.
II. Templates.
1. Template selection is carried out by crossing off from a list of 5 templates: 2SM4d(3), Balance, Jebus cross, Mini-Nostalgia, 8mm6a. Blue starts crossing off.
/Example:
Blue :
1. balance
Red :
2. 8mm6a
Blue:
3. 2SM4d(3)
Red:
4. Jebus cross
This means we play on Mini-Nostalgia./
2. Game rules coincide with the standard tournament rules in everything, except for the time per turn.
a) For template 2SM4d(3):
time per turn - 8 minutes;
Game rules for the SoD version - section II of the Rules.
On other templates, the general rules of section II apply with individual differences for each.
b) Differences for 8mm6а:
- Map settings: XL+U, 2 humans + 6 computers, difficulty 160%, time limit per turn – 10 minutes.
- Restart for slow roads. Taken at the request of at least one opponent immediately after map generation; subjective restarts are not spent.
- It is permitted to go from respawn to respawn without breaking through shifted guards.
- If a computer's castle has an upgrade of level 1, 6, 7 in Conflux or level 4 in Necropolis, it is forbidden to upgrade your own troops of these levels and hire the upgraded version of creatures. If the Necromancy Amplifier is built, upgrading vampires is forbidden, but additional skeletons do not need to be dismissed.
- DD can be used 2 times a day with expert air magic.
c) Differences for Jebus cross:
- Standard map settings: size XL-U, two players, no water, monsters - strong, difficulty 160%, time limit per turn – 10 minutes.
- In the Necropolis castle, Galtran can be chosen as the starting hero.
- Restart for slow roads. Taken at the request of at least one opponent immediately after map generation; subjective restarts are not spent.
- To leave your zone and enter the central treasure zone, it is necessary to break through ГО. Using bugged passages into the central treasure zone is forbidden until ГО has been broken.
- Mandatory restart if a player completely lacks ГО between their starting zone and the center, i.e., there is no ГО on any passage to the center. Taken on the day this fact is discovered.
- Mandatory restart if a player has no passage from their starting zone to the center. Taken on the day this fact is discovered.
- Restarts at the player's request,
a) who lacks ГО in the passage through which the road leads to the central treasure zone;
b) whose only road leads into ГО;
c) who lacks a road to the central treasure zone,
are taken on the day these facts are discovered.
If subjective restarts remain, a subjective restart is spent at the player's choice (e.g., on 124 one can take the remaining restart 111).
If subjective restarts have run out, the player has the right to request an additional restart.
- In case of bugged passages between zones, passing into a neighboring zone is only possible if ГО to the center has been broken from both zones.
- Using "Angel's Wings" and the spells "Fly" and "Dimension Door" when moving from one zone to another is permitted only if the guards between them have been broken.
d) Differences for Balance:
- Standard map settings: size L-U, humans - 2, computers - 0, no water, monsters - strong, difficulty 130% (rook), time limit per turn – 8 minutes.
e) Differences for Mini-Nostalgia:
- time limit per turn - 10 minutes.
- Map settings: L+U for 8 players (i.e., with 6 computers).
- To avoid double-builds, the choice of castles for computers is made by players alternately, one at a time. The blue player starts the selection. There should be no repetitions or matches with the players' castles. Before starting the game, the host assigns the chosen castles to the computers.
- It is forbidden to pass by shifted ГО. Passing by shifted guards of other passages between zones is permitted.
III. Organizational Questions.
1. The tournament is official and regular.
2. Tournament goals:
- play as a favorite castle and try to prove its strength,
- gain valuable experience, improve your level of play.
3. The tournament is conducted according to the Rules for organization, conduct, and participation in tournaments. All changes that will be introduced there during the tournament will also be adopted here.
4. Players with ЧМЧ are not allowed to participate in the tournament. If any player is issued a ЧМЧ during the tournament, they will be disqualified and their results annulled. The issue of participation of players on the Black List is decided by the Organizers on an individual basis.
5. Leaders and judges: Gomunguls (ICQ: 499978341), Scorpiona (ICQ: 469326983) and Pit for LM (ICQ: 471401475).
Disputed situations are resolved first according to the game rules and the rules set out in Section V.
Disputes between players are resolved by the leaders; disputes between players and leaders are resolved by the АК.
Leaders have the right, if necessary, to make any changes to the regulations and rules during the tournament.
6. For each game played, participants must submit a report and confirmation in this thread. Only in this case is the game counted. Submission of reports via ICQ to leaders is possible.
Reports must be submitted according to the following scheme:

V. Regulations.
Stage 1. Group. 16 groups of 5 players each.
Each player in the group plays one game against all others. In total, each must play 4 games. 1 point is awarded for a win, 0.5 to each for a draw, and 0 for a loss.
2 weeks are given for each game. Games can be played in any sequence.
If a player has not played the required number of games by the end of the current round, they must explain the reasons on the forum or by contacting the tournament leaders personally. "Disappeared" participants will be disqualified and replaced by players from the reserve list.
Two players who scored the most points advance from the group. In case of equal points, places are distributed according to additional indicators (in order of priority):
1. Berger coefficient.
2. Head-to-head match.
3. Points earned in games "weigh" more than tech-wins.
4. If it is impossible to determine those advancing to the playoffs by the previous indicators, a scheme of tie-break games will be offered to the players. At this moment, it is impossible to foresee all possible combinations of results. Therefore, the final scheme will be thought out based on the situation that develops in the groups by the end of the stage.
4.1. If a disputed situation arises only in one group between two players (equal BC, draw in head-to-head, equality in techs), then a replay is scheduled between them.
4.2. In case of equal indicators 1-3 among three players in only one group, the player who has a higher seasonal (if equal, permanent) rating at that moment takes the higher place. A replay is scheduled for the two remaining players.
4.3. If there is an even number of contenders to advance from different groups, a cross-draw will be conducted. Winners + lucky losers (criterion - seasonal and permanent ratings) advance.
4.4. If there is an odd number of contenders to advance from different groups, first one player with the highest seasonal (if equal, permanent) rating among those who scored the most points in their groups will be chosen to advance directly to the playoffs; among the rest, a cross-draw will be conducted, and game winners will advance to the playoffs. If necessary - lucky losers with the best result in the seasonal (if equal, permanent) rating also advance.
4.5. Deadline for tie-break games - 1 week.
Stage 2. Full Double Elimination. 32 players.
Each pair plays one game; draws are impossible at this stage. By agreement, matches consisting of several games can be played, but they must fit within the deadlines allocated for the round.
Matches of the upper and lower bracket finals are played until 2 wins.
To win the tournament in the superfinal match, the winner of the upper bracket only needs to win 2 games; the winner of the lower bracket needs to win 3 games.
