Map name: Island for one
Two-level map: Yes
Map size: Medium
Number of players: 2
Map difficulty: Normal
Version: Warlords of the Wastelands
Map author: ColdWarrior
Description: Two conquerors landed on an island far from civilization, coming from different ends. They were amazed by the riches of this remote paradise. The conquerors founded settlements on this island. Over time, their borders grew larger and larger until finally two hostile camps clashed in the center of the island. That day they agreed to divide the island and even drew a border, but deep down they always knew that it couldn't last forever...
I recently downloaded this map out of curiosity and was unpleasantly surprised. In my memory, it looked better, but there’s nothing unusual about that. First, there was a mistake in the description; the map is not large, but medium. The decision to make it for the then-new Equilibris version wasn't justified; I guess I just wanted to use new objects from the editor that I couldn't use in my current Heroes of Fallen Wings project. Overall, the map looked garish and suffered from the same problems as the HoFW prototype. Then I got to work to first make the map playable in the regular Warlords of the Wastelands version and also make it much more pleasing to the eye, while fixing gameplay elements along the way. As a result, the map is now compatible with Warlords, looks much better, and is more balanced. In the old version, the water space was simply useless; now players can raise sails and explore the surrounding sea. There is now only one Oracle, in case someone decides to drag out the game. Both sides of the map are more equal in content.
Have fun playing.
