The Fourth Annual Offline Tournament "Best of the best".
as part of the 4th inter-portal tournament
between HeroesWorld and HeroesPortal

The tournament is held once a year on a map that took 1st place on our website as a result of a competition for the best Heroes 3 map on heroesworld.ru. This time it is a map by the author VOVLAD — Minotavrs King.

General Tournament Rules:

1. To participate in the Heroes III Tournament, you must register on our website or on the HeroesPortal.net website. If you wish, you can also leave an application in this thread. By leaving an application, you will be notified about receiving your save in the application table.

place for the table.

2. The tournament is held on the Russian versions of Heroes of Might and Magic III:
The Shadow of Death (Version 3.2) or Complete Collection [Platinum Edition] (Version 4.0)

3. The goal of the game is to complete the quest (defeat the hero) in the shortest possible time. In case of a tie in days, the deciding criterion is the sum of primary skills (attack, defense, magic, knowledge) taking into account the equipped artifacts of ANY of your heroes (the hero's existing parameters in the final save are counted).

4. The tournament is held according to the rules of HeroesPortal.net, which are almost identical to the rules of HeroesWorld.ru. You can find the rules by following the links:
http://www.heroesportal.net/land/rules.php?type=off3
http://www.heroesportal.net/land/rules.php?type=main
http://www.heroesportal.net/land/?type=H3other

We draw special attention to the following point:
1. All battles played in the tournament may be subject to verification by the tournament organizers to confirm that they can be repeated on any computer, and participants may be asked to provide detailed descriptions of the battles they played.
If battles are repeated, the outcome of morale/luck/abilities should not be a decisive factor in the victory (army preservation) and is not
mandatory when the tournament organizer repeats the battle. The player has the right to deviate from these rules and base their victory on a single occurrence of morale/luck/abilities and ask the tournament organizer to replay the battle several times to confirm the repeatability of the results.
In the event of a deviation from these rules, as well as the inability of the tournament organizer to repeat any of the battles in the tournament within
25 attempts, the participant's final save will be canceled.
If you have any questions, please contact the organizer for clarification.

5. Discussion of the tournament during its course is PROHIBITED!!!
If the organizer or his assistant is documentarily convinced of a discussion of the tournament in any place on the Internet, he has the right to exclude such player(s) from participating in HeroesWorld tournaments once and for all. The results of such players will not be counted and will be immediately canceled.
The tournament organizer also reserves the right to consider that the discussion of the tournament was between players if players from the same clan completed the tournament in exactly the same way.

6. The use of any cheats and bugs in the final playthrough is prohibited. Otherwise, the result will be canceled.

7. It is forbidden to use cheating programs, codes, or additional programs that can change the structure of the game in the final playthrough.

8. In the event of suspicion of a player cheating or other malicious intent during the map playthrough, it is necessary to save before each significant event (for example, before a difficult battle, at the end of each game day). The result of a player who played unfairly, as well as one who did not send their description (saves) in time at the request of the tournament organizer, will be canceled, and their further participation in tournaments will be impossible. This will also affect their reputation, and not in a good way.

9. Sequence of actions for participating in the tournament:
9.1. Download the save.
9.2. The downloaded save must be placed in the GAMES folder of the installed Heroes III on your computer.
9.3. Load the save and start the game at any time that is convenient for you. Restarting the game is prohibited, and the map can only be played from the downloaded starting save. At the same time, do not forget to make intermediate saves (at least daily saves should be made). The organizer of the tournament may request them from you.
9.4. After completing the last action, after which the victory occurs (final battle, capture of a city, taking an artifact, etc.), you must save again.
9.5. A complete description of the tournament map is encouraged (not required). If there are any, a competition will be held for the best description, 10 of which (the best) will take their place of honor in the "Feats of our best heroes" section!
9.6. Within the time allotted for the tournament, send this save to the tournament organizer to the e-mail address, which must be indicated in the rules of the tournament.
9.7. Wait for the results to be announced.

10. The final save should be sent to the e-mail address of the organizer from HeroesWorld - Dirty_Player and the e-mail address of the organizer from HeroesPortal - Sub-Zero.
In the sent save, all heroes must be dismissed, except for the hero performing the last action and the hero whose parameters should be counted (this may be the same hero). Together with the save, you should send a description of the tactics of the final battle.
Save name: the save must contain the player's nickname, for example: Dirty_Player.gm1.

It is also recommended to leave a message in this thread that you have sent the save.
After receiving the save from you, you will see in the application table that:
save accepted - in bold Nickname.
save accepted - in italic bold Nickname.
save not accepted - in red bold Nickname.

11. The thread for discussing the tournament on HeroesPortal:
http://heroesportal.net/tavern/?id=264659&pagenum=13

12. The tournament starts on 17.01.2010 and will last until 17.02.2010 (until 23:59:59 Moscow time inclusive). Only one final save is accepted from the player.
The results will be published as soon as the organizers are ready :D

Is it possible to download the save file, try your hand at the game, and submit your application up to February 17, 2010?

Of course, it is. Ideally, submit the application with the completed save file, even if it's just a minute before the deadline.

I think it wouldn't hurt to remind everyone that using navigation bonuses on land means using the Admiral's hat in its assembled form. Just to avoid any confusion. ;)

No, that's not quite the right interpretation. You can use the Admiral's Hat in its complete form. But only in places where it doesn't lead to excessive turn manipulation.

offtopic: as an idea for a new tournament, maybe we could create an offline tournament that is as close as possible to the online format? Something like - banning the use of the editor, giving 10 attempts to complete the map, no long waits for loading and morale, a well-chosen random map, and something else... The goal is to attract a segment of online players who would benefit from learning the theory of the game, and to bring offline and online players closer together, because offline and online are two sides of the same game - theory and practice... Based on this goal, we can build the concept of such a tournament. This is just an idea, maybe it will be useful to someone from the organizers of offline tournaments...

A player's well-rounded development actually lies in the opposite direction: from offline to online.

the skillful evolution of a player lies in a different direction: from offline to online

Incorrect statement. The evolution of a player is from online to offline, because many online leaders cannot even show results close to those of average offline players in offline play.

A good online player is a person who can simply think quickly and relatively accurately under time constraints and pressure. The psychological type is a sanguine. And a good offline player is a person who thinks more accurately and deeply, i.e., the greatest subtleties of the game and the ABSOLUTE strength of the game lie with offline players.

+a million!!

The only weakness of an offline player is that everything is done after N attempts. But in online, skill is demonstrated here and now! The ability to show online what some can only do offline – that's mastery! For many, online means upgrading archers and going into battle, which isn't good. In general, offline is useful for learning the basics. There are examples of players who come from online to offline and show decent results there. (invisible, Phenix3)

Were logs and password finding specifically banned? That's a strange decision...

and the weakness of an online player is that, even after N attempts, or even a thousand attempts, they CANNOT come up with the same optimal and strong strategy as the offline leader. Strictly speaking, the offline leader is more capable of solving difficult puzzles, as long as there isn't a time constraint.

No, that's not quite the right interpretation. You can use the "Ship Ability" in its assembled form. But only in a way that prevents exploiting it to gain extra turns.
So, does that mean you put on the hat, get in the boat, sail, and then take off the hat before disembarking? Since the bonus would be applied each time before getting into the boat and saved before disembarking. Or can the player calculate the number of extra moves and stop where they believe their move allowance should run out?

Logs and save files – what are they? I have a question. Previously, the rules stated that a patch could be used to guarantee consistent results – the same morale and luck values in identical situations. This would allow the judge to replay the battle based on the description and verify that no cheating occurred. I had a very difficult battle that lasted 3 hours in real time. My hero had around 3600 mana and a lot of spells. I won, but I had to use various spells to restore my own mana many times until it ran out. I had to use a pen and paper to record everything, making notes – who moved, who waited, which cell to move to so as not to be attacked, basically everything with JEWEL-LIKE precision. The battle was against a computer-controlled hero who also used magic. If you play without the patch, there will be different outcomes – I might get a morale boost, but the judge might not. As a result, my detailed description of the battle is useless; the judge doesn't need it. Furthermore, as a strong player who knows how to conduct battles well and accurately, I played the battle more effectively than the judge. That is, the judge suffered GREATER troop losses. So, is there no proof that I played fairly, and will the battle not be credited to me? Let the judge replay the battle 20 times with greater troop losses; why should I, as a strong player who knows how to conduct battles well, suffer because someone (the judge) is worse at battles? The argument that "you should play at less than your full strength so that the judge can also win the battle with the same troop losses" is absurd. I want to play AS I KNOW HOW, at my full strength. Conclusion – that patch IS NEEDED. If it can be used for cheating, then it can be banned! I want to describe my battles in detail, step by step, so that it is clear that I am not cheating. Therefore, the question is – can that patch be used?
