It seems the gamers exaggerated a bit. As far as I know, there weren't such detailed system requirements. Rockstar simply stated on their website that a dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 512 MB of video memory would be needed. And that's it.

Relatively modern means 512 RAM and a 128 video card. Good computers have 1GB of RAM and a 256 video card. Anything above that is top-of-the-line :/.
On average, most people have "relatively modern" and "good" computers (unless they live in Western Europe or Moscow, or America, etc. :D)

Nonsense. You can easily assemble a computer with 2GB of RAM, a 256MB video card, and a 2.5 GHz processor for 15,000 rubles. And that will be enough for about three years. Spending 5,000 rubles a year doesn't seem like a big deal... More or less, this is equivalent to >1GB of RAM and 256MB of video memory. P.S. RAM is cheap, about 1,000 rubles per gigabyte, or even less, depending on the timings and other factors. P.P.S. 4GB of RAM and a 512MB video card are typical for Europe and America. Uh, Nazg, I live only half an hour away from Moscow by train, and I use this "advantage" every day, but... am I such a country bumpkin, and is it common for people in Moscow to throw hard drives, RAM, and motherboards into the trash every six months, buying a new computer? O_O
And monitors?... and new internet providers every time?...
