What are you listening to right now? Auto-translated

Why don't I know almost any of the groups here?
Nightwish - Gethsemane

American Hi-Fi - Hell Yeah!

What groups do you even know?

Well, actually, I meant that Arandor listens to music. Is it some kind of American pop music? Or some mainstream stuff? I don't know any of the bands he mentions.
P.S. Vomitron_-_Castlevania

last.fm/music will help you.

If "pop" refers to pop music, then no, this is rock. If "pop" refers to popular music, then you can answer the question by reading your post. If you don't know them, it means these bands are not very well-known and are not "pop" (unlike Nightwish, Rammstein, etc.).

Lol, among punk rockers, your music is much better known than Nightwish. Likewise, all symphonic and power metal fans know Nightwish and appreciate your music.

Why? I don't listen to Nightwish, but I know them. If we were to conduct a poll in our country, I'm sure that more people would know Nightwish and similar bands than would know my favorite bands, for example, RHCP, even though they've been around since the 80s and are very famous worldwide, but fewer people in our country know them. In general, things are the opposite here compared to the rest of the world.

I've also noticed that metal fans don't know bands from other genres, but fans of other genres know metal bands, and are generally more knowledgeable about the world of music.

Here, almost no one knows the music I listen to. My music is elite and not pop, while yours is!

for example, RHCP

But that's not true.

Well, it's clear that some people know them. Maybe metal bands are more well-known than others.
Also, just knowing the name of a band doesn't mean you've listened to them ;)
unless it's just a couple of songs.

And yes, I know the names of your bands and some others, just like almost any metalhead. I've even listened to a few songs by them, but I didn't like them, so I stick to Mythos.

Want to start a poll?)

maybe metal bands are more well-known than the others

lol. although that's true for our people
Our people usually listen to either metal or what has become popular recently. For example, bands like Muse, The Killers, etc.
Here, take a look. You can also check the number of listens on Last.fm, but that shows overall popularity.

Also, just knowing the name of a band doesn't mean you've listened to it.

but metalheads (and others) sometimes haven't even heard of a band, while I know the names and have heard the songs :P

But that's not the case.

Maybe not in your case, but most likely in Russia. It might have been different before, in the years 99-02, but now it's like this.

My music is elite and not pop.

I have a band that has only 10k listens on Last.fm. And who is the elite now? :P
by the way, there's a decent number of listeners from Russia, which is strange
