Rules for Offline Tournaments in HoMM IV + FAQ!
Dear fans of Heroes IV, we present to your attention the general rules for Offline tournaments in HoMM IV + FAQ! Over time, something may be added or changed! At the moment, these are the rules that apply! Please read them carefully!
1. How to participate in a tournament:
1.1. To participate in a Heroes 4 tournament, you need to register on our website and also leave an application in the topic where the tournament is held.
2. In Heroes 4, there are 2 tournament versions: Winds of War and Equilibris 3.51 TE. Tournaments are held on one of them; the version will be specified separately in the rules of each tournament.
3. Sequence of actions for participating in a tournament:
3.1. Download the save file. The save file is usually located at the bottom of the main post of the tournament topic.
3.2. You need to place the downloaded save file on your computer in the GAMES folder of your installed Heroes 2 game.
3.3. Load it and start playing whenever you have free time (i.e., players play strictly on the downloaded saves. Restarting the game is prohibited), while remembering to make intermediate saves (at least daily saves). The organizer may request these from you.
3.4. After reaching the last action (after which victory occurs), you need to save again.
3.5. A detailed description of the tournament map is encouraged (not required). If any exist, there will be a competition for the best description, 10 of which (the best) will take their rightful place in the "Feats of Our Best Heroes" section!
3.6. Within the timeframe allotted for the tournament, send this save file to the tournament organizer (the address should be indicated in the rules of that tournament).
3.7. Wait for the results to be announced.
4. Restrictions on passing the save:
The use of any cheats and bugs in the final playthrough is prohibited. The result will be annulled. i.e., the following are prohibited:
4.1. Restarting the game, i.e., you can only play from the save.
4.2. Using the "spacebar" key.
1) Using the "spacebar" key IS PROHIBITED when boarding a boat.
2) Using the "spacebar" key IS PROHIBITED when disembarking from a boat onto land.
3) Using the "spacebar" key IS ALLOWED when pulling out a defeated hero (grave) from under monsters.
4.3. Moving monsters using saves - PROHIBITED.
4.4. Additional hero upgrades related to saving - PROHIBITED.
4.5. 65000 arrows for Elves by saving during combat - PROHIBITED.
4.6. Overcoming obstacles on land, i.e., when dragging units with the mouse from the upper slots into the lower ones, they end up, for example, behind bushes that are usually impassable (the player does nothing prohibited; he uses the mouse, and during this operation, the units lose some of their turns).
ALLOWED.
4.7. Overcoming obstacles when disembarking from a boat onto land, i.e., disembarking on land without an indication of the possibility of disembarking, i.e., there is no anchor visible on the shore; again, this is done with the mouse, and the units' turns are reset (spacebar is naturally prohibited – see point 2).
ALLOWED.
4.8. Upgrading hero graves with thieves. Upgrading Grandmaster of Stealth skill on hero graves.
PURPOSEFUL upgrading of a grave in this way IS PROHIBITED.
NON-PURPOSEFUL upgrading of a grave in this way IS ALLOWED.
You must be able to convincingly explain why you were forced to accidentally upgrade the grave and why it was impossible to do without it.
4.9. Upgrading graves with ordinary units on attack, defense, speed crystals in combat, increasing magic points.
PROHIBITED.
4.10. Using a hero's spellbook on the adventure map by the grave unit PROHIBITED.
4.11. It is forbidden to use completely "blind" external dwellings on the battlefield.
"Not blind" or more precisely semi-open is allowed.
4.12. Use any other glitches (bugs).
4.13. Discussing the tournament on the forum during its course IS PROHIBITED!
(Players who violate this rule automatically lose the opportunity to play in the tournament; their results will not be counted and will be annulled).
Using cheating programs, codes, and additional programs that can change the game structure is prohibited.
If a player suspects that his opponent has played in violation of the rules, he has the right to contact the tournament organizer and ask his opponent to send him the save files for the playthrough. The player who sends such a request must also send his daily saves to the coordinator.
The result of a player who played unfairly, as well as one who did not send his description (saves) within the time requested by the tournament organizer, will be canceled, and further participation in tournaments will be impossible. This will also affect his reputation negatively.
5. Types of Tournaments:
There are several types of tournaments; they differ from each other in terms of victory conditions.
5.1. The most common tournament is a speedrun tournament, i.e., it's a regular game against the computer; the faster you achieve your goal, the better (goals: either kill everyone or capture a specific artifact, or something else... will be shown below).
5.2. A creature collection tournament, i.e., as the name suggests, the criterion for victory is the maximum number of creatures in your army. The tournament can be of two types: the first is collecting the maximum number of creatures in a certain amount of time, and the second is a speedrun, i.e., you need to collect a certain number of creatures in the minimum amount of time.
5.3. An experience tournament, i.e., as the name suggests, the criterion for victory is the maximum amount of experience for a particular hero. The tournament can be of two types: the first is collecting the maximum amount of experience in a certain amount of time, and the second is a speedrun, i.e., you need to collect a certain amount of experience in the minimum amount of time.
5.4. A resource tournament, i.e., as the name suggests, the criterion for victory is the maximum amount of a specific resource in the kingdom's treasury. The tournament can be of two types: the first is collecting the maximum amount of resources in a certain amount of time, and the second is a speedrun, i.e., you need to collect a certain amount of any resource in the minimum amount of time (usually gold is used as a resource, but there may be variations...).
6. Prizes:

Note - In the future, it is planned that players will receive virtual money at the end of the tournament: Grails. How to use them and what they can be spent on, you can learn by reading the relevant topics in the section: GRAILS
