Constructive Proposals for the Development of HW!

I will state right away that many of the ideas described below have been proposed by both myself and other HW users at various times. Some users left without waiting for changes that could have significantly increased the prestige of HW, minimized flood, increased forum traffic, and substantially increased the quorum of players in tournaments.

I will try to highlight all the main points that simply must be implemented on HW for the successful realization of the revolutionary and consistent development mentioned below. If this is not done, HW will simply be overgrown with flood, heroes will take a back seat, and good players will leave the site altogether...

Consistent favorable development of HW as the largest resource!

1) To reduce flood on the forum, as well as to eliminate unfavorable situations caused by desperate and resentful users, it is necessary to introduce regulation for managing BD (battle spirit, morale), as well as for creating threads:
- prohibit users from creating threads if they have negative BD or have fewer than 50 posts in their history;
- prohibit users with negative or neutral BD from influencing the BD of other users or leaving comments in profiles.
- implement an automated ban system.
- automate the system for removing HW administration members, specifically moderators, their assistants, as well as coordinators and super moderators. For example, if a moderator has been absent from the forum for 2 months, their rights are revoked without the right to restoration*! If a moderator does not perform their work or uses their rights for personal (selfish) purposes, they should also be removed by higher management after reviewing the specific situation.
Note - rights may be restored in case of prolonged illness or other unforeseen circumstances as a result of which an administration representative was unable to visit the forum.

2) Open a library, which would include maps, programs, reference books, Manuals, useful articles, and other very important material! Create one library with divisions by parts. The library itself should be built not on the forum, but directly on the site, and the information included in it must be thoroughly checked, tested, and posted by the HW administration—specifically by a person who is responsible only for the library and nothing else!
There is a lot of useful and very important material on the forum, but there is no library as such. The way the library exists now is a sham.

3) Selection and specialization of HW administration.
The portal's administration should be selected from people who have earned respect on the forum, have positive BD, are not newcomers to the forum, and know the forum structure. The chosen governing body is submitted for review to the Creator, who gives the final decision based on which the new administration is appointed.
The administration must consist of coordinators, moderators, and moderator assistants.
There should be 5 coordinators, each of whom coordinates the work of moderators and their assistants in the sections assigned to them, reviews disputed cases, resolves conflict situations at the moment they arise, and helps moderators and users understand moderation and forum structure respectively:
- one for sections: Heroes I and II;
- second for sections on Heroes III and IV;
- third for sections on Heroes V;
- fourth for the clan section and sections with other computer games;
- fifth for sections not related to hero themes (Flood, etc.).

Coordinators should be selected by the administration approved by the Creator based on a vote of the chosen governing body.
In each major hero section, 2 moderators and one assistant must be appointed. In the flood section, only 2 moderators.
By distributing the chosen governing body across individual sections in this way, the amount of flood will quickly decrease, and threads will acquire readable text and a desired tone.

4) TOURNAMENTS!
In my view, the most important thing on any hero site is tournaments held for various parts of the games, and it is this circumstance that encourages many people to stay and return to the site again and again. If there are no tournaments, the site will die over time.
So, in order for tournaments to be interesting and attract many users from different resources, it is necessary to:
- create a section clearly specifying which leads are official and which are unofficial;
- explain how official tournaments differ from unofficial ones;
- specify the goals of official tournaments versus unofficial ones. (Currently, this point is fictitious and has no reasoned positions, i.e., there is complete chaos in this part);
- clearly divide all official tournaments into groups;
- reward all tournament prize-winners with additional rewards, i.e., for first, second, and third places respectively;
- assign a Player Rating to players after each official tournament;
- additionally stimulate all players by awarding them Grails (a monetary unit) after the tournament;

5) Introduction of a Virtual Monetary Unit - Grails!

At the end of 2006, the Grail theme was considered and developed until it became clear that its automated implementation on the existing forum engine was simply IMPOSSIBLE!

And yet, users have repeatedly tried to propose ideas at different times that could somehow raise the prestige of tournaments held on HW, based on the concept of implementing Grails. Everyone understands that the introduction of this monetary unit is simply inevitable for the prospective development of HW!

For 2 years now, we have been treading water without making any effort to develop this concept. Similar desires arise among users in one thread or another, but as a rule, not even a few weeks pass before such a thread simply dies and ceases to be relevant. Unfortunately, over two years, the main concept for developing the grail theme has not moved a single step, and the Creator has shown no desire to deal with this problem. Factually, all enthusiasts like AlexeyPank, Dmitry_A_S, Kyle, Alan, IronAxe, Crash, Radik, Geksorin, OlegRS, Fanat and others have left; those who remain (Adelaida, Alex_R, Kamikaze, Sage and others) understand that no one but ourselves can push this idea forward.

It must be understood here that without writing scripts for awarding Grails, as well as tracking their outflow and inflow to users, this model will not work. Perhaps for 10-20 people, but what if there are 100, 200? How can this be tracked? Doing it manually is IMPOSSIBLE!

Therefore, first of all, we must think about the idea of automated regulation of the new monetary unit on HW, as well as all its components without which the implementation of Grails would be impractical; i.e., experienced programmers ready to consider creating scripts for full operation on HW must be found. I repeat, without automating the system, the model for implementing a virtual monetary unit on HW will not work!

To understand this more globally, I will try to briefly outline the essence of this task.

MODEL FOR IMPLEMENTING GRAILS ON WWW.HEROESWORLD.RU

6) Before talking about GRAILS, it is necessary to complete all points 1) 2) 3) 4); without their completion, I consider implementing this idea meaningless.

7). Create a universal script that allows any organizer to correctly summarize tournament results. This is necessary for consistent result summaries and to prevent confusion among tournament organizers. This script should also calculate the rating and award grails according to the formulas that already work successfully on the forum. After calculating the rating and grails, the script should automatically credit Grails to the user's profile and add the rating to the table with the previous rating, forming an additional column. The script should also be able to maintain individual player ratings for each year, as well as a general rating for clans.

8) In addition to rewarding prize-winners of each official tournament with cups and medals, introduce mandatory rewards in the form of real prizes upon completion of the season (year), which are sent to players and people who deserved them by mail via parcel.

9) Establish rules for conducting fan tournaments:
a) All HeroesWorld portal users can participate in the tournament.
i.e., closed tournaments (where the number of participants is limited) are not "countable" and no rewards for participation will be credited.
b) A minimum quorum must be reached.
i.e., per AlexeyPank's suggestion, the minimum quorum could be as follows:
Heroes I - 5 people.
Heroes II - 7 people.
Heroes III - 10 people.
Heroes IV - 5 people.
Heroes V - 10 people.
c) The tournament organizer must notify the portal administration about:
- that a tournament is starting
- who the organizer is
- the rules of conduct
Then management checks:
- whether this person can be trusted with organization...
- checks for the presence of rules and their fairness..
If all three requirements are met, the tournament is assigned "fan tournament" status, and participants are given rewards after its conclusion.

10) Introduce a certain amount of Grails on HW, which will be displayed on the forum constantly and act as a counter; i.e., when there is an outflow or inflow, the counter should show this. The counter should be in the form of a scoreboard.
The need to introduce a specific number of Grails is necessary to prevent denomination, inflation, and other virtual monetary reforms related to their shortage.
I propose considering an initial Grail amount of 100000 pieces.

11) The concept of Grail outflow should have a clearly defined structure.

a) Determine fixed Grail accruals for users for work done for the benefit of HW.
I suggest starting from the following:
- quality organization of a tournament (at least 4 participants) 200 Gr;
- assistance to administration in organizing tournaments: 100 Gr;
- conducting a contest: 100 Gr;
- publishing fresh news of the hero world: 6 Gr;
- posting a map (only your own, or someone else's not available on other Internet resources with the author's consent) for any version of heroes, with a short description: from 10 to 200 depending on the map itself;
- link to a flood thread, post in the "Flood Links" thread – 1 Gr;
- other.

b) Determine prestige coefficients for each group of tournaments based on the existing Grail accrual table.
Example:
- Regular – according to the Grail accrual table;
- Skeleton collection – multiply final sum by 1.2.
- Van Cuningham Memorial – 1.4;
- Best of the Best – 1.6;

12) To implement the circulation of Grails on HW, ensure the following:

a) At the end of the year, in each version of heroes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), a top 10 best heroes are selected (the best will be determined by a special group of people who, in a duel format, will determine the best hero on a specially prepared map) based on the user's doll*. This top 10 best heroes are rewarded with special awards, and their dolls are annulled after the "Top-10" tournament, and all acquired property on the doll is transferred to the HW balance. In exchange for hero dolls, users will be assigned a special status in the form of an order of 1st-10th degree, which will be reflected not only in the profile but also under the user's avatar!

The peculiarity of this tournament is as follows: the 10 best heroes are automatically included in this tournament map (specially prepared for the tournament), with all acquired characteristics, artifacts, magic, monsters, etc. The goal of the tournament is one - they must be freed from captivity! ALL 10! This tournament is held once a year.

As an additional reward, the top 10 best heroes (participating in the "Top-10" tournament) are given the opportunity to play in the "One against All" tournament, which will also take place once a year before the "Top-10" tournament, to identify the strongest hero, i.e., the absolute leader.

The peculiarity of this tournament is as follows:
The organizer makes an equivalent map with only the 10 best heroes participating, using all skills, characteristics, artifacts, magic and other things on the hero's doll.
Only players from this top 10 can participate.
A personalized save is made for each participant and sent to their email inbox.

b) Any user having a certain number of Grails (say 1000) has the right at any time to exchange them for a special distinction mark in their profile and under the avatar. Here one can fantasize and propose various options for distinction marks.

c) The property of a user who has not appeared on the forum for over one year is transferred to the HW balance; in return, a special sign is added to the profile indicating that the user can restore all their property at any time if they become a more active participant.

13)A hero doll is added to a user's profile only if they have established themselves well on the forum (have positive battle spirit) and have at least 50 posts. Lowered battle spirit automatically blocks all of the user's property. For a banned user, the hero doll is annulled and all property is transferred to the HW balance.

14) There must be a possibility for automated Grail accrual to a user's profile and application of purchased items on a hero doll of a selected series of heroes (Writing an additional script).

15) To further attract users, as well as provide new same stimulus, each clan is given a choice of one of the Castle in the declared version of heroes.

- there can be 5 such castles, one for each version.
- clans can build these castles using grails from the clan "treasury," i.e., buy buildings and creatures from these castles. At the same time, limits on the number of creatures that can be purchased per month can be introduced.
- these castles must be visible to all, i.e., located in a separate section. For example: Clan Order of the Phoenix, under it all available castles; Out of Many One, under them all available castles.
- the purchase of any building or monsters for a specific castle is coordinated with clan members in a closed section; after approval, the acquisition is made by the clan leader or their deputy.
- clans having their own castles will have the opportunity to participate in additional tournaments.
- Regular tournament for the "Best Clan of HeroesWorld" prize.

This is a challenge trophy. The clan that wins it is awarded a stylized HW coat of arms.

Two to four people from each clan participate in the tournament. A "Clan Castle" and a hero with a personalized "doll" are placed in the starting save. The personalized doll is chosen by the clan council from the dolls of the clan members.
Goal of the tournament: Win in minimum time. The winning clan is determined by the lowest sum of times of all clan participants.
The tournament is regular; it can be held every six months or once a year...

- "Clan War" Tournament
This tournament is not regular; it is initiated by one of the clans, challenging another clan to a fight. At the same time, there are some restrictions:

a) A clan cannot challenge another clan if the challenged clan's game rating is lower than the challenging clan's game rating. For example: Clan "A" has a game rating = 100; Clan "B" has a rating = 50; Consequently, Clan "A" cannot challenge Clan "B," but Clan "B" can challenge Clan "A".
b) The challenged clan has the right to refuse the fight. But no more than twice in a row and no more than four-five times a year, otherwise an automatic defeat is recorded.
c) The challenging clan can send no more than one challenge per month.
d) If the challenged clan refuses the fight, it means that for a month no one else can send them a challenge.
e) Challenging to a fight during the tournament for the "Best Clan of HeroesWorld" prize is prohibited.
Two to four people from each clan participate in the tournament. A "Clan Castle" and a hero with a personalized "doll" are placed in the starting save.
Goal of the tournament: Win in minimum time. The winning clan is determined by the lowest sum of times of all clan participants.
The winning clan receives an n-th amount (amount to be specified) of grails from the losing clan.

16) Hero doll in user profile (script).

As soon as a user leaves their 50th post on the forum and has positive BD, a new function is activated in their control panel: obtaining a hero doll.
Any user can acquire 5 dolls for each of their versions of heroes.
A hero doll is blocked if the user's BD becomes negative.
The hero doll must correspond to the hero doll available for each version of heroes.
A player possessing a hero doll has the opportunity to provide it with their biography, as well as increase characteristics and skills, and equip it with an army.
All this can be done by having grails and points earned in tournaments.
Grails are accrued according to the grail accrual system.
The number of Points is awarded for the place taken in the tournament:
1st place 10 points.
2nd place 9 points.
...................
10th place 1 point.
At the end of the year, a user can try their strength in special tournaments: "Top-10" and "One against All" (only for 10 players with the best dolls).
Special individual tournaments - Duels.
By mutual agreement, users can fight each other on a map using their dolls; to do this, it is necessary to write a letter to the administration to open a duel. Upon receiving the letter, the administration must prepare a map within a week, placing players with their dolls on it. A fee for playing a duel is paid into the bank on the HW balance by each player. The stake of the game in Grails is determined independently between the players. Up to 8 players can participate in a duel tournament at once!
It is possible to conduct a tournament with dolls among several teams united in an alliance.

17) Think through an additional system of prizes for users who do not participate in tournaments but lead an active life on the forum, helping it develop. i.e., also award them Grails for special merits, which they can spend at the market if they wish, buying special awards or medallions that would speak to their activity on HW!

18) Implement the ability to give virtual gifts to other users.

19) Move all threads of the type: which level 6 monster do you like most, which death is the most beautiful, which castle do you like most in appearance, into a combined thread in each section: "Which objects in the game do you like / dislike and why".

20) Resume chat operation.

After the constructive change/addition of the concept for the development of HW as a whole, discussed in this post, with the elimination of all remarks arising from the dialogue between all interested users, it would be reasonable to try and propose its final version to the Creator for review. Perhaps even in the form of an open letter, signed by all interested forum members.

P.S. The checking of scripts must be very thorough; testing of each should be carried out by many users who know how to evaluate such work and identify all its flaws.

P.S.S. This whole venture will not be worth a broken penny if programmers ready to take on the writing of scripts according to the proposed algorithms, writers, and enthusiasts ready to help them in every way in the fruitful implementation of the project as a whole are not found. The idea will also fail if the Creator refuses the services of third-party programmers and cannot implement such scripts himself.

This is the whole problem – as far as I know, he did the same thing last time...
But I think that if he is a reasonable person (and I am 100% sure of that), he will not refuse now... (although it would be good to find some third-party programmers)!

- prohibit users with negative or neutral reputation from influencing the reputation of other users,

Why prohibit neutral users? If they have more than 50 posts, let them have a neutral reputation.
4) TOURNAMENTS!
In my opinion, the most important thing on any Heroes website is the tournaments held for various parts of the game, and this is precisely what attracts many people to stay and return to the site again and again. If there are no tournaments, the site will eventually die.
Therefore, in order for the tournaments to be interesting and attract many users from different resources, it is necessary:
- to create a section in which it is clearly indicated which organizers are official and which are unofficial;
- to explain how official tournaments differ from unofficial ones;
- to indicate what tasks are set for official tournaments and what tasks are set for unofficial ones. (Currently, this point is fictitious and has no substantiated positions, i.e., there is complete chaos in this area);
- to clearly divide all official tournaments into groups;
- to reward all tournament winners with additional rewards, i.e., for first, second, and third places, respectively;
- to award rating points to players after each official tournament;
- to additionally incentivize all players by awarding them a monetary unit, Grails, after the tournament;

An excellent and constructive proposal, I am all for it!!!!!!!!
- there can be 5 such Castles, one for each version.
- these Castles can be built by Clans using Grails from the Clan's "treasury," i.e., they can buy buildings and creatures from these Castles. At the same time, it is possible to introduce restrictions on the number of creatures that can be purchased per month.
- these Castles should be visible to everyone, i.e., located in a separate section. For example, the Phoenix Order Clan, with all its existing Castles listed below, Many into One, with all its existing Castles listed below.
- the purchase of any building or monsters for a specific Castle is agreed upon with the members of the Clan in a closed section; after approval, the purchase is made by the Clan leader or his deputy.

And here is another idea. Suppose a person has proven himself well on the forum and wants to join a Clan. Then the Clan leader considers his proposal (he asks some questions or something else). And if he wants to take this person, he takes him and pays him Grails, depending on the number of posts. That is, for example, 20 Grails for an Assassin, 180 for a Griffin. It also depends on the number of awards the user has.
However, you may not agree with my proposal.
P.S.S. All this undertaking will not be worth a penny if programmers willing to write scripts based on the proposed algorithms cannot be found, as well as people who can write texts, and enthusiasts who are willing to help them in every possible way in the fruitful implementation of the project as a whole. The idea will also be a failure if the Creator refuses the services of third-party programmers and cannot implement such scripts himself.

The question is: where can we find these programmers? It's not an easy task. But the idea is worthwhile.

Regarding unofficial tournaments... Who would want to play just for fun? Perhaps it would make sense to award points even for unofficial tournaments, but in smaller amounts.

b) Determine the prestige coefficients for each tournament group, based on the existing Grail allocation table.
Example:
- Regular – according to the Grail allocation table;
- Skeleton collection – multiply the final amount by 1.2.
- Van Kaningen Memorial – 1.4;
- Best of the Best – 1.6;

I think we will discuss the coefficients further, as well as the types of tournaments.

Thank you, VDV, for all your hard work!
As I understand it, now we need to wait for the Creator's response, because without a positive answer, all our discussions will eventually end up the same way as the previous ones, and they will become meaningless.
(I disagree with some of the points regarding the coefficients for Tournaments; many tournaments are not listed, especially online ones, and points can be added regarding the awarding of Grail points outside of tournaments, but this also needs to be discussed only when it becomes clear that the Grail system will exist.)
I would like to suggest something that we (forum members) have recently come up with: perhaps, in the event of a negative response from the Creator (or even worse, if he ignores us), we could try to do it manually, without scripts? We could calculate it in a similar way to how we calculate the rating, classify tournaments, create a schedule for official tournaments, and determine the leading official tournaments – we can do all of this without scripts. We can also hold final Grail tournaments without them. I understand that scripts are, of course, the best solution, but if they never appear, let's try doing it ourselves? We have many enthusiastic and active people. And if nothing works out manually, then at least we will know that we have done everything possible in this direction, and we will forget about this idea and continue to live in this liberal chaos.

Wouldn't it be easier to discuss this topic one-on-one with the Creator first? Would he agree to seek help from someone else, etc.?
If the Creator doesn't need it, then all these activities are pointless!

And one more thing! Think in advance about how to attract people in case this project is successfully implemented! Because if something works out, but there are no people interested, then what's the point?

I'd like to contribute my small idea:o. Since I spend most of my time in sections not related to "Heroes," I'll focus on that. There's a lot of clutter there, and everything is mixed up. I think we could divide this section into 3 sub-sections: "What the 'Heroes' fans love," "Chatter," and "Fan Creation." I don't see much activity in the text-based RPG section, so I think it could be removed, or left, but moved to a separate section within "What the 'Heroes' fans love." There, we could also keep "Miss" and "Mister," ufology, philosophy, sports, "dating," "forum faces," "holidays," and so on. But IMO, that section also needs some adjustments. Next, in the "Fan Creation" sub-section, we could place topics like "Poems," "Art-Fantasy," and other fan art topics. Here, we could also create topics for, for example, text-based works about "Heroes," etc. In the "Chatter" section, we could create a section for "Quizzes" (there are a lot of these topics), and leave the general chatter, but clean it up thoroughly. For example, delete topics like "Cult of Cthulhu," "Cult of Chuck Norris," etc.; you get the idea.;)

the "Ufology" sub-section should be disbanded altogether, as there are only two topics related to UFOs, and they are practically identical... also, sub-sections are needed for films, music, tests, games...
I almost agree with the rest

P.S. I liked the ideas in the first post, especially about Grail artifacts (games based on them, dolls, and castles from all parts, and everything else)... this should add interest to tournaments and other games, both inter-clan and duels...

Actually, there are two topics related to UFOs, although there are other topics on a similar subject. I think they can be combined into a "Mysticism" section, and ufology and everything else of that nature should be placed specifically in it. I disagree with having separate sections for games, movies, and music. This can be discussed in separate topics, but again, not in short, meaningless threads like they usually are in that section. In general, there is too much off-topic chatter. In my opinion, topics and posts should be deleted mercilessly. And one more thing. I think it is necessary to delete posts containing strong substitutes for profanity.

-prevent users with negative or neutral Reputation from influencing the Reputation of other users, as well as from leaving comments on profiles.
Ideally, all comments should be reviewed by moderators.
-implement an automated ban system.
I'm against this for obvious reasons, although if the idea is that an automated message would be sent to a moderator about assigning a ban to a user, then I'm in favor.
-prevent users from creating threads if they have a negative Reputation, or if they have less than 50 posts;

Rumor has it that it's easy to get a positive Reputation in an in-clan subforum.
-second, divide the sections into those for Heroes 3 and Heroes 4;
Fans of both games are rare (as far as I remember, IRONAXE was a genius in both games).

I'm all for everything else; we can discuss the details later and adjust them as needed.

The only thing that struck me is that the artifact and castle systems seem unbalanced for clans (both small and large).

And I don't quite understand why the clan war is held offline. :)

Quite the opposite !:smile29:
I've been on the forum for two months (approximately, I don't remember exactly), leaving posts almost every day, and I still haven't reached 50 posts, but there are newcomers who have a lot of questions! :smile29:(and it's not a fact that such a topic already exists)
And regarding a negative reputation score, imagine a newcomer who accidentally said something wrong and BAM!:smile29:
