Buruaca
Buruaca is the name for both the humanoid creatures and the territory they have inhabited since ancient times. The Buruaca are frog-like humanoids, and three hundred years ago, their culture and language were very primitive, their worldview limited, and concepts such as statehood and nationality did not exist at all. With the arrival of humans—soldiers and bureaucrats of a multi-national empire—on their lands, the Buruacan way of life began to change rapidly. Over the following centuries, they adopted many elements of the empire's culture and today exist as one of its numerous regions. However, this form of coexistence does not suit everyone, for the natives are deprived of any opportunity for self-governance, have limited rights compared to humans, and are also obligated to pay very high taxes to the imperial treasury. The biggest surge of anti-imperial sentiment in these lands occurred about ten years ago, shortly after the publication of literary works by the Buruacan writer and musician known by the name "Balzac." In his documentary writings, he described life in other regions of the empire, which clearly demonstrated to his countrymen the unjust conditions in which they live.
Empire
This faction is represented by servants of the empire and those who support its authority in the region. Its goal is to preserve the current order.
| Pico Nagrom Governor of Buruaca appointed by the imperial government. Pico Nagrom is a man devoid of any ideals, who changes his views and habits depending on the circumstances. He cares nothing for the prestige of the empire, nor for the struggle of the Buruaca. He will always find a way to weasel out of any situation and shift the blame for his own failures onto someone else. Nevertheless, he is a man in a high position, and therefore his word carries great weight in these parts, regardless of what others think of him. Specials: - Governor. His vote counts as two (displayed only if it was needed for a successful execution). Status: Human, outsider. | |
| Oren Derdrom The Right Pillar of Buruaca — one of the two commanders of the imperial garrison. A naive, trusting, and simple-heartedly good-natured soldier who has drifted through most of his life. He was taken into the army before the milk had even dried on his lips, but over the long years of service to the empire, he never found the resolve to change his life, even though violence and war were contrary to his nature. He enjoys a certain popularity among the locals. Night Actions - Guard Duty. Protects the chosen player. Status: Human, local. | |
| Selig Airotra The Left Pillar of Buruaca — one of the two commanders of the imperial garrison. Where Oren is clumsy and simple-minded, Selig Airotra compensates with cunning and valor in battle. Tall and mighty, the imperial commander commands respect from his subordinates and instills fear in his enemies. He serves to provide for his wife, who lives in another region. Night Actions - Interrogation. Blocks the chosen player. Status: Human, local. | |
| Romeo One of the Buruacan guards. A simple frog, a romantic. Wants nothing more than for humans and Buruaca to live in peace. Suffers from unrequited love for Grande. Day Action - Self-Sacrifice. Confesses to crimes he did not commit and ends the day with his own execution. Night Actions - Patrol. Redirects actions targeting the chosen character onto himself. Status: Frog, local. | |
| Pompeia A market stall seller. A diligent cog in the local economy, mother of nine children. She has a chatty tongue, with which she can sell anything to anyone. Night Actions - Chatter. Finds out if a player is local or not. Status: Frog, local. | |
| Louis Buruacan pianist. In the past, Louis was one of the imperial guards in Buruaca, but recently he changed his career, succumbing to the passion of his youth—playing the piano. Unlike Balzac, he has never been outside his native region, but he is very popular at home. Night Actions - Concert. Learns the race of the chosen player. Status: Frog, local. | |
| Morgana Priestess of some goddess. Morgana, like her other brothers and sisters, brings faith, education, and medicine. Her mission in Buruaca is to enlighten and provide aid to the natives. Night Actions - Prayer. Heals the chosen player (in the event of success, the killer still leaves a clue). Status: Human, outsider. |
Gullet
Buruacan rebels trying to regain control of their land.
| Goriot Commander-in-Chief of the "Gullet". In the thirteen years that Goriot served in the imperial army, he gained extensive military experience and now tries to apply it to realize a long-held dream—an independent Buruaca. He longs for his countrymen to regain their lost dignity and carve out a place for themselves in this world. Specials - Orator. After the death of the Governor, Oren, and Selig, gains a double vote. Night Actions - Assault. Kills the chosen player. - Intimidation. Blocks the chosen player. Status: Frog, local. | |
| Balzac Ideological leader of the "Gullet". Writer, philosopher, musician, traveler, and politician. He spent most of his life outside his native regions. A close friend of Goriot and Louis. Night Actions - Improvisation. Kills the chosen player. - Concert. Learns one of the statuses of the chosen player (player's choice). Status: Frog, outsider. | |
| Grande Princess of the "Gullet". Goriot's beloved daughter. Thanks to her father's influence and wealth, she leads a privileged and carefree life. Night Actions - Ribbit-ribbit-ribbit. Kills the chosen player. - Pretty please. Forces the chosen player to vote according to the team's discretion on the following day. Status: Frog, local. |
Wanderer
| Gibil Mysterious wanderer. Gibil is from the Calcite Kingdom, south of the empire. Long ago, he followed in his father's footsteps and, through years of painstaking work, became known as one of the most famous smiths of Calcite. However, at some point he realized he had reached the pinnacle of this craft, so he handed the family workshop over to his eldest son and set off to travel, trying to discover himself in something new. Since then, he has become fascinated with astrology, alchemy, and other sciences, and only he knows what is currently going on in his head. Specials - Wisdom. Gibil is protected from death on the first night and execution on the first day. - Discernment. Learns the role of one random player from among those who voted against him during the day. - Diligence. Can use two different NAs simultaneously. Night Actions - Research. Blocks a player on the next night and copies their actions and specials. Status: Human, outsider. |
