Sakuramoria Auto-translated

Varya sighed. Among the unread books was "Godkiller," but it was hard to say how useful the literature was. Oh, and another treatise by Seiso. But someone mentioned that it was more for broadening one's horizons than for practical life advice. Varya carefully sat down next to Chloe, at a distance where they could talk without invading each other's personal space. "Hi. So, is it good reading?" the refitter asked cautiously.

— Indeed. I think that if everyone in the world adhered to the principles described here, people would be more polite and reasonable.

“E. What?” Varya leaned in cautiously for a moment to make sure it was that book, because who knows, maybe Chloe was using “The Law of Balance” as a coaster, and something else was inside. No, it seemed everything was correct. “Well, I’m glad that someone is interested. When I returned the book, I was more concerned that it would be useful for… broadening someone’s horizons. But we’re talking about the curse of “Sakimaru,” right? It’s not something you’d want to live with…”

— Well, it depends on how you look at it. You know, some atheists sometimes say that religious people only do good deeds because their faith requires them to? Following that logic, it turns out that only atheists (and followers of evil gods...) are capable of the most terrible deeds because they have no principles. But this law very well demonstrates the value of life and the harm to society caused by self-satisfaction and ideologies based on it.

It seemed like this answer contained so many mistakes that it was almost impossible to fit them into three sentences. -- I think that any religious person, even if they are guided by dogmas, still mostly does what their heart tells them to do. And this often turns out to be not such good things. Although I haven't encountered villains among the followers of Dante, for example... But in general, not every faith makes you virtuous. Frankly, I haven't encountered any outright evil religions either, except perhaps some that are too childish or too contradictory... -- But nothing prevents an atheist from having strict principles, and the law of balance, in my opinion, has nothing to do with it. Or do you... think otherwise?

“But what principles do these godless people have… Today it’s one thing, tomorrow it’s another, whatever is more advantageous at a given moment. I’m almost certain that most politicians are like that. And you’re right about evil gods; take Resh, for example. Would a normal person want to live in a world where there is no order and no clearly established rules?”

— Ha-ha, these Airlis and Kiera are just like you and me, Neomaric!

Assassins?

- You have a rather unusual vision of pantheons, which differs significantly from the official theological agenda. Are you being harassed by fanatics, perhaps? They may be a minority, but who knows what they are capable of? You are a brave man, Evgeny Stanislavovich.

— Uh, ha-ha, thank you for the kind words. I think that beauty in a person's life is always a good thing.
— Tell me how your tournament went, — Yumi interrupted, — did your katana come in handy? What did you name it, by the way?

"Order must first be in one's mind," said Varya. "But overall, it's difficult without it, of course..." "It's probably best to avoid discussing Rishi, or I might get into trouble." Refiteika rested her head on the table, supporting it with her hands. She felt strangely down today. "Okay, but how does the 'law of balance' solve this problem then? I understand the idea that you need to look at everything from different perspectives, and although from my point of view, it might be a bit too callous, let's assume. But the 'Curse of Sakimaru,' placed on the sword by an ancient Misurugi blacksmith, doesn't really contribute to this understanding. Whoever wields such a sword is forced to either completely abandon the path of a warrior, and then what's the lesson? You change your profession, it's unpleasant, but not fatal. Or they will calmly kill everyone in sight, first their enemies, and then their friends, giving free rein to their bloodlust. And when they have no friends left, the sinful warrior will take their own life, but the earth will continue to groan from what they have done. Moreover, if everyone in the world were given such swords, I am sure that humanity would face extinction. Of course, there will be noble souls, maybe even the majority of them – those who will stop fighting altogether, except for the struggle for survival against various monsters and creatures. But the remaining ones will be enough to drown the whole world in blood. And the more they kill, the more the remaining ones, considering themselves noble, will be forced to kill, taking the lives of themselves and their friends, and starting this cycle of killings again and again until there are no people left in the world. "I'm not even talking about the fact that you have to be a specific kind of person to take the life of someone close to you, for your mistake, and not your own, for example. It turns out that the 'wise' ancient blacksmith simply killed those who were noble, without giving them any life lesson: they immediately killed themselves after the first battle, without having time to realize anything. And those who had no principles, who were ready to strike someone who trusts them for their own life, could generally live long and happily. Well, as long as they have friends, that is. From my point of view, this can hardly be called balance. "Of course, there is a third way. You can be a warrior, but not kill your enemies, as the followers of Mana do. But to break the third principle of the law of balance, you need a certain loophole, which is difficult to see. However, I managed to find it. And yet, it's not exactly what the creator of the curse originally intended.

— An armed society is a polite society. When people are held accountable for their own actions, they are less likely to harm each other and the society in which they live. This also applies to those who rule us. Do you think something like what happened at the ceremony would have occurred if the organizers had to pay for the murder with their own lives or the lives of their loved ones? And the Law of Balance takes all of this to a higher level, stripping away the pretense.

Poor Shera.

— Call me Rhododendron, I'm one of the lackeys of the biggest jerk in this country. I came here on the orders of my brother, Caladium. But the local soldiers are all cold towards me, and they won't let me meet with my father and Villa. That's the situation, basically! And this, — he gestures towards the menu, — I'm treating. So, tell me, what's this Futaba all about? Who is she, and what's she famous for? Is she some kind of aspiring model? A singer? Or perhaps a notorious priestess of Avaritia?

From what he said, Gideon didn't understand everything, although a whole host of vague guesses immediately appeared in his mind. It was clear that this had something to do with the mystery hanging over the academy, but it was not easy to put the pieces of the puzzle together. After thinking for a long time, so as not to remain silent, the young man began to slowly taste the dessert. Finally, he spoke:
— A student at NAILS. At first, she was just a quiet, average student, but now they call her Her Majesty... We had an old security chief among the teachers, an old soldier in retirement, and it all started with him. It turned into an ugly story. In July, there were elections for the student council president, and he clearly falsified the votes in her favor, after which, under threat of execution, he ordered all the students to swear allegiance to her. According to him, he was acting on orders of the highest priority. Well, and in the end, a scuffle broke out between him and the dissatisfied, luckily another teacher stopped it before it escalated to murder. After that incident, the old man was kicked out of the academy, but now Futaba is listed under the surname Starlight on all sorts of documents, so you can figure it out. She doesn't seem to be involved, although rumors are circulating, of course. They say she's a cunning seductress who decided to seize power, but in my opinion, that's nonsense, it doesn't seem like her.
Gideon looked closely at his interlocutor.
— And what was the mission, by the way, if it's not a secret?

"I wonder, did it happen? Unfortunately, I know for sure that it would have happened. The king doesn't care about any of them, and they don't care about each other either. It's so naive that it's just..."
Varya sighed, trying to formulate an argument for the slow-witted. Remembering their April situation with Elliott, Varya easily found her words.
-- Well, look. Thirty friends are walking through the forest. One of them sees some raspberries off to the side and goes to eat them while the others don't see. There happens to be an evil bandit hiding in the forest. He sees this friend and attacks him to rob him and take his life. Fortunately, the friend is skilled in martial arts, and with great difficulty, he manages to fight off the bandit, and the bandit dies.
-- The noise attracts the other twenty-nine friends, and they ask, "What happened? How are you, friend?" And the friend, unfortunately, turns out to be afflicted with Sakimaru's curse, the curse of balance. And without a word, he beheads his nearest friend to maintain the balance. What will the remaining twenty-eight friends do to him?
