Posts from An arena for unprecedentedly accurate skill assessment – a skill test.
You can set several battle locations and let the blue player choose a position (he just needs to stand on it). Then the red player will be teleported to the position chosen by the blue player and will automatically attack. If the blue player does not choose any position, the battle will take place on a random cell from the available ones.
The advantage here is that thanks to the turn-based system, players can prepare completely independently and simultaneously, and then they don't need to observe any formalities or rules; they just both need to skip their turn.
I will attach an example map with the ability to choose a position (and with forbidden direct damage and flight).
skilltest advanced
A new version of the skilltest map has been released, with changes made based on recommendations from Sav and Xocenk.Description of changes in skilltest advanced:
Two scholars have been added after the magic shrines, followed by a well.
The spells Fly and Dimension Door, as well as the artifact Angel Wings, have been blocked. They were disrupting simultaneous turns.
Now, one player cannot attack another. The battle starts automatically after both players have completed their first turn. The red player is considered the attacker. This allows for simultaneous turns and also enables playing against the computer.
The battle takes place on sand to reduce the influence of native terrain.
Blue can end their turn on one of five cells on the sand road. The battle will then take place on that cell. This allows blue to choose the terrain. If blue ends their turn anywhere else, the battle cell will be chosen randomly from these five.
That's correct, it should be in the Maps folder, next to the other maps. You need to look for it not in the list of templates, but in the list of maps; it will be named Skilltest.
Thank you!
The battle is held on sand to reduce the influence of the home terrain.

I removed all non-combat artifacts, spells, and secondary skills (including starting ones).
I gave all artillery units a ballista (cannon - Jeremy). It is impossible for other units to obtain artillery.
I added an event that gives +3 morale, so that the secondary skill of leadership, artifacts, and abilities that affect leadership make more sense (Although, on average, everyone still fights with negative morale, but at least not all the time -3).
The battle is held on a random terrain.

Armageddon's Blade is still unnecessary – it's a one-button win. Otherwise, it's great!
