"Count," Veserod greeted. "This is... quite something." He gestured to the bloodstained sacks with hieroglyphs that were dumped on the floor, and the various artifacts placed on the table. "We found all of this in the lake, in a grotto at the bottom."
He described the place they had discovered, mentioned the battle, the strange appearance and ranged weapons of the opponents, and finally, told about the prisoners held in the basement.
"One of them attacked. He didn't survive..." the hunter shook his head. "One of our men recognized him as a participant in the arena," he added, and then described his two "comrades."
"We also found some woman... Yukei... Yuko... uhhhh..." For a moment, he was horrified to realize he had forgotten the name, but a little effort helped him overcome this hesitation. "Yukina... Yes. That's right. That's what one of the henchmen called her," Veserod described her appearance in detail. "We couldn't capture her. We suffered losses, and the prisoners were after us."
He clicked his tongue grimly.
"And we also found this," he placed a letter and any other records they had managed to find on the table.
“It’s a pity that things turned out this way,” Leon sighed sadly after listening to Veserod’s report. “But perhaps it’s better this way than nothing at all. I will do everything in my power to track down this woman and bring her to justice.” The Count reviewed the documents. “What about the equipment of the opponents? It is quite possible that this is contraband or stolen goods and valuables belonging to local residents…”
- They took everything with them, - Veserod replied, carefully stuffing first-aid kits into his pockets with one hand, while holding a musket in his pants leg with the other.
I will do everything in my power to track down this woman and bring her to justice.
Hey, you have access to the records; tracking her down based on supplies and transaction trails shouldn't be difficult, even with just the first letters of her name. Although, considering your governmental incompetence, your maximum contribution is probably just showing up at an improvised arena.
Where do we go? Where do we end up when we save the world?
- They're with us, - the hunter replied grimly. - There were no valuables there, only equipment. We wanted to take it as a trophy. But if this goes against local law... - he shrugged and shook his head.
— Yes, it’s better to hand over the loot; it’s for your own safety. Alright! I understand the situation now, and I thank you and your friends for your good service. As promised, I will try to find out what I can about your girl.
