I already regret deciding not to play as a Shaman, but at least I'll be able to feed the cat with corpses.

Unfortunately for Haren, he did not manage to find an opportunity to talk with the mayor of Veldaran – the time to leave the city arrived earlier than he had a chance. Le'Rau also found nothing interesting. Ichthir was busy buying supplies for the upcoming journey.

The journey took just over a day, and during this time, contrary to many people’s expectations, nothing unusual happened. Klem Geiher explained this by saying that they were still on the outskirts of the Dark Lands, and therefore its influence here was not so great. Kafire felt a bit uneasy in these places, but she grasped the main idea and didn't think she needed any further explanations. Perhaps she would have questions after receiving the actual assignment, but not now. So, she waits for the others, absentmindedly scratching the manticore behind the ear.

Dahlia glanced at her companions: many of them hadn't done anything yet, but already looked miserable. It seemed that even with help, they might not survive long enough to become recruits.

When the group reached the location, Dormina felt a strange unease: it wasn't related to a sudden fear of death (:p), but rather a time-tested survival instinct urged the dwarf to realize that he hadn't chosen the best place for a walk. And perhaps, in his youth, he would have heeded it, but now the mercenary had nowhere to run and no reason to.

“Everything in its time,” the captain seemed to dismiss Haren’s request, “we’ll get to that after the briefing.”

Haven was lost in thought and remained silent.

Christian felt unwell after the journey, so he turned to his companions for help. Perhaps someone had a potion or knowledge of healing or magic.

- If one of the test subjects dies during their trial, can someone else take over and complete the trial instead? And if the deceased had enlisted the help of one of their comrades and the task was completed, does the helper count as having passed the trial?
