-We literally can't prove anything that has happened in history. -Our personalities are all the sum of the lies we choose to believe about ourselves, why should history be any different?
.
Where do we go? Where do we end up when we save the world?
No, you're the one posting quotes about how history is a lie.
Initially, I wanted to provide context for this quote, but then I decided it was unnecessary. However, since the meaning of this quote is being so distorted (at least, the meaning that I see), it's worth clarifying. A long time ago, Revan expressed his position on history to me - what if all records, all witnesses, all photos and videos are lies and fabricated? Essentially, solipsism, but on a historical scale. And there's no arguing with that, just like with ordinary solipsism. How can I prove to you that I am not a product of your imagination, just like the entire reality around you? There's no way, if you are a convinced solipsist. With history, this is even more complicated because documents can end up in a classified archive, be destroyed, not everything may be documented, witnesses may distort their testimonies, etc. And in this case, I like the reverse of this approach. In the end, our personalities are nothing more than an image that we ourselves have created in our minds, and it is as unreal as the world/history around us (assuming we have embraced solipsism). And if our personality is nothing more than a fiction, an illusion, and we don't care about that, then why should we care that the world/history around us is also a fiction? We simply prefer to believe that our personality exists, and if so, then we can believe in the existence of the world and a certain historical narrative. That's all.
I respect veterans, by the way.
Where do we go? Where do we end up when we save the world?
