We weren't expecting darkness, though it was already past noon.

He's been standing behind you the whole time, just turn around!

That's what I thought. They'll definitely show up at three in the morning; I know these fallen paladins.

[Ji Ling leaves]

Are we heading back, Hero, or staying overnight?

A wounded, naked man, exhausted but laden with loot and covered in bags of gold, will arrive five minutes after you leave. Think about that.

We don't want to kill him just for the loot. And we wait until night not to ambush him, but to avoid encountering monsters at night. This is called common sense.

With a trembling hand, James wiped the blood from his eyes. He was terribly thirsty, but even more, he needed to rest. His legs gave way, and the knight collapsed right into the mud, where he lay for a while. Finally, with great effort, he got up and looked around. The girls were nowhere to be seen; they had probably already returned to Vaoon's lair. He checked his former allies – they were dead. "Too bad. Very sad." The young man found a medal with his name on it; the orcish woman had nothing special except for a ring. "If I return home, I will consecrate these relics at the altar," James promised. "May the Almighty rest your souls." At that moment, it didn't matter to him that one of them was a twisted and rotten non-human soul. At least, in the last moments of her life, she showed the courage befitting a true, full-fledged human. There was one more thing to do before returning. Knee-deep in corpses, ignoring his dislocated arm, James built a small funeral pyre from twigs, pieces of wood, and debris, which he set ablaze with a flint. He couldn't remember most of the prayers they had been taught, so he said a few words of his own, sending Larte and Shsurkh on their final journey. "If that snake returns, at least she won't get them," he decided. A nasty little worm gnawed at his soul, urging him to go after Vaoon, because he might still be alive, but logic tried its best to argue against it. In the end, the exhausted paladin dismissed all thoughts and trudged heavily towards the caravan with the latest intelligence. And of course, I'll take the supplies: some coins, a healing potion (or two), and some paper.

I also have a requiem for those who fell in battle...

The news of what had happened came as a shock to all participants of the expedition. A seemingly simple reconnaissance mission ended with the death of three people. Edgar prayed for the souls of the deceased, and Tiara Brighterbring, completely unprepared for such a turn of events, lost her voice. The others remained silent. "Thank you for the information and your bravery in battle, warrior." "Princess, we should turn back." The overseas sorceress seemed more concerned about the future than about the events that had already transpired. "These deaths are regrettable, and the road ahead will be very dangerous, but I do not wish to stop at the first obstacle that arises in my path." Tsai Yuanji looked at the mercenaries. "But no one will judge those of you who wish to turn back."

— Princess, we should turn back. — The overseas Sorceress seemed more concerned about the future than about the events that had already transpired.

They would have gotten along with Sith'Al.

Okay, we'll leave with Heroist and Ling, unless he says otherwise. I don't want to lose another party member and waste time.

- Does anyone know what kind of creature this is? I don't know if it was the one that destroyed the village, but we could take it down.

If you're going to fight that creature, I'll join you.

Alright, let's head back to camp.

— You don't even know where it went after that, — the orcish woman remarked. — I'm staying, but running around the area searching...
— I... I'm leaving! — Gathering her strength, Tiara finally said it. — "Uncle Ringer was right after all." — The princess ordered that a certain amount of supplies be given to the girl, after which she headed home.
