Heroes of Might and Magic 2 doesn't launch in fullscreen on my laptop!
It only displays a square in the center, and the entire desktop with the game is compressed to 640x480. There's a mod for this in Heroes 3, but not in Heroes 2.
My laptop has an NVIDIA GeForce 315M graphics card, and I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.
I've tried everything, including running the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP and as administrator, but nothing works.
Can you offer any advice?

It's worth trying the GoG version. Also, it makes sense to disable additional dialog services and set the color palette to 256 colors. As a last resort, you can try running it through DOSBox.

Dear Orzi. This won't help. I recently encountered the same problem on the same hardware. I'll say right away that GOG won't work properly in its old way – with a black screen. The problem was solved in a non-trivial way. Although, it seems to me that the image now has some slight stuttering.
