And considering that it's quite easy to allow such a situation to occur in the game (where only Shabnak remains of the Mafia), especially with a Gunslinger (or rather, with two Gunslingers, one of whom only kills Mafia, meaning they don't have to worry about making a mistake) and a Mage, I would advise the Mafia to protect the Mage even if the Prophet and Albino are still alive.
Therefore, the question is: isn't it too much to give the Mage this additional, forced support, on top of all his other advantages?
