Criminal activity doesn't reflect well on a person's energy, and communication should only be used when there is a real threat to one's own life or the lives of loved ones (IMHO). You won't get anything from him through peaceful means. The amounts aren't particularly large, but they're not insignificant either. My advice to everyone is simply not to play with him, since he treats people he trusts this way. Let him continue to wallow in his own... mess.
