You can experience a similar feeling if you start a regular single-player game and are given a lot of gear right from the beginning.

In general, if you buy some elite editions, single-player games often do this. And I can't say that it's a bad thing. There will still be better equipment later on, but at least you won't have to swap one piece of junk for another (which you'll also swap out in ten minutes).
