That's exactly what I wanted to point out. The main difficulty in public discussions is that everyone thinks something is obvious. And yet, what is obvious to one person is not at all obvious to everyone else. Almost always, the rest of them haven't even considered other possibilities, and sometimes, upon careful review, it turns out that the "obvious thought" is not accurately formulated or is simply a fallacy.
Therefore, it's better to write out your thoughts completely, rather than limiting yourself (the most striking example from recent arguments is BertVolga, also known as Albert) to phrases like "well, you're an idiot - you chose the "worst option," and I know 10 better options." And yet, he can't write down a single one. Everyone interprets these ambiguities in their own way, and it leads to a lot of talk, sometimes escalating into an argument.
