No, the old map should be removed at least a month before the next new year. The pool of map voters is already almost exhausted, and only a couple of votes might be added in a month. In the following six months, only one person might vote, and most likely, the topic will fade into the black hole of the archive. It would be better to hold a new contest at the end of 2017 or the beginning of 2018, if there is enough material. We can already say that the contest was a success - more people voted than last year, by about 10%. The distribution of votes looks good. (It's a pity that after casting your vote, you can't see how others voted).
