Patients with dysplastic syndrome constitute a group with increased psychological risk, characterized by reduced subjective assessment of their own abilities, level of aspiration, emotional stability, and performance, as well as increased levels of anxiety, vulnerability, depression, and conformity. The presence of dysplastic-related cosmetic changes, combined with asthenia, shapes the psychological characteristics of these patients: lowered mood, loss of the sense of pleasure and interest in activities, emotional lability, pessimistic assessment of the future, often with ideas of self-flagellation and suicidal thoughts. A logical consequence of psychological distress is a limitation of social activity, a deterioration in the quality of life, and a significant reduction in social adaptation, which is especially relevant in adolescence and young adulthood.
Disruption of the mental sphere: also, adaptation disorders are possible, and autism may occur.
