I started a respawn with a Griffin Conservatory under the Castle, but the economy was tight — arrow blockers and only one road. I reached a transport hub, and there it was: hello, two one-way portals, 2 lifts with no road, and a road as long as the bald guy's from Brothers, with 20-49 Wizards and 20-49 Greater Pit Lords at the end. Well, I decided to take the no-road path to the swamp computer, arrived around 123-4, and there's Celeste from the Castle waving. Checked it — yep, with a weekly growth and full mana. Went home to grab the Griffin Conservatory, luckily just a pair and Tazik managed to level up Earth magic (no Oil of course, but I can't always be handing out chocolate in this draft, can I?)
Next, I dove into a one-way portal with a hero and lo and behold — 2 Griffin Conservatories, a one-way portal back, and a proper transport hub, and then things took off (if not for this, I probably would have surrendered, since I hadn't found a single hive by that point).
At 132, I set up under a super treasure zone at home, but didn't block the one-way portal. Figured I had 4 attempts, they'd bring me my army. In the end, Tazik stood near the super treasure zone for a day, and in the treasure zone there was a max Dragon Utopia with Crown and Shield (+12), and then two more max Dragon Utopias, with a few stat boosts sprinkled in. Built Town Portal on the 4th attempt, gathered a few more Dragon Utopias. Had a chance to take the main and upgrade Angels, but I walked all the decent heroes that could reach there. In the end, Taz emerged at 225 with 13 Angels, 40 Dragon Flies, 27/45 Battle Dwarves, full control and Haste, with a timer of 30+. The opponent, Nagash, had ~20/20 Battle Dwarves, 20+ Archers, under 50 unupgraded Dragon Flies, and a Grail (just unclear where it is — seems to be in a Tower), timer only coming in at 9 minutes. We agreed on a draw.
Thanks for the interesting game.
There were no restarts, it was a chocolate giveaway. By week 1, I scouted 3 Griffin Conservatories, 2 clues, and got Angels. Roads were excellent. At 115, I killed the computer with 6k guards; at 117, I threw myself into a max Skeleton and got wrecked, killing all my tempo — didn't even have money to buy Winged. At 143, with Alkin, I only took the first Dragon Utopia; by 147, I took 3 more Dragon Utopias. Upgraded Archers. Then things went dull; I was severely lacking timer. Captured 2 of the opponent's towns, but couldn't bring heroes to scout properly. Eventually, I started gradually losing map positions; around 216, I built the Grail in a Tower, but the opponent started rushing my towns with heroes and killed Alkin, my second main. I kept making more and more mistakes. Taz had 47 defense; I decided it would be reasonable to agree to a draw, since the opponent is clearly stronger in macro. Thanks for the game. At the time of the draw, I had 25 Archers and 65 Dragon Flies. Among the artifacts, there was a Vial of Life; AoTD was close but I didn't see it; I needed a Cascade +6 for the Alliance.
Thanks for the game.
