After two years of Asian "rice-based" cuisine, I came to the conclusion that in Russia/Ukraine, they don't know how to cook rice. So, I'm not really surprised by Siva's statements. I used to think the same way and only ate rice in pilaf at family gatherings (because there was a Central Asian woman in the family, for whom making pilaf is like me making borscht).
