I agree, I've been saying for a long time that the format of the double-elimination bracket needs to be changed.
Double elimination for 8 players, best-of-3 in the upper bracket, best-of-1 in the lower bracket. Grand final best-of-5. The time commitment might be the same, but it would require less player involvement.
