Regarding the topic at hand, there is a ranking system to determine the strongest player, and it fulfills its purpose. As for the "Player of the Year" poll, it's more like a popularity contest, where everyone chooses their own criteria.
I repeat, if the goal was to identify who won the most in 2016, there would be no need for a poll; you could simply count the results or estimate the ranking.

It's funny to watch how some choose based on the principle: "He hasn't won yet, let's give it to him."...as far as I'm concerned, the whole point of the Tournament is lost.
Personally, I voted based on this principle, but that doesn't mean I voted for just anyone. Kobra performed very well as a player in 2016, and it's silly to argue with that.
Seriously, I don't understand which Tournament you're talking about, the one whose meaning is lost? If you're talking about the nomination, then it's definitely not a Tournament, but a subjective poll. Some people vote for their friends (no :D).
Well, I voted for Reddi. He's just my friend:).
I don't understand which "all" Tournaments Kobra won?:) Various HOTA Tournaments don't count because many strong players don't participate in them at all.
ONLYXL, FB, Lyubimchiki - these are the Tournaments that matter.
If we're talking, for example, about Lyubimchiki, then under certain circumstances, you can go far there without playing against any of the strong players.
